i put in beru's on fresh installs. when the glow plugs eventually burn out and they will sooner when the timing is advanced. my truck goes on a ether diet. i know the risks using ether. nonone need to mount a crusade in dissuading me on doing so.

i know of a couple diesels(Cats and Kubotas) that get started with either everyday but they don't have GlowPlugs or Heaters.

i used starting fluid for a few years with my diesel wood chipper.always just a little squirt while cranking.recently when i went through it,i had the relay replaced so she now starts again with the plugs.
id recommend running burnt out Beru's and starting fluid long before i would an off brand plug.LOL

Have you ever heard off blocking the exhaust while cold starting?
I can say I've seened it with my own eyes. Works too.

I recall our engines came with autolites.. Or was it champions???:dunnocookoo I just know for a fact those 2 brands are terrible.

I had four of each in mine until recently. Installing eight new Motorcrafts highlighted the deficiencies of my glow controller. So it got replaced with Motorcraft as well.
