Flex plate Help.

Okay, so there is a bad spot on the ring gear on my flex plate and I'm getting tired of it. Can i replace just the starter ring gear or do in need to replace the whole flex plate?

It's all one piece. So trans has to come out!

how good you with a welder???? i have welded teeth up before,with 7018 rod,then took a die grinder with a wore down cutoff disc--to shape the tooth!!!--takes a bit of finess,,but sure beats pulling trans and such!!!!! and never did break off,,,i backed up the void area,,with a piece of smashed flat copper pipe,,as weld doesnt stick to it!!
