i made a diagram before i took them out.
noted cam side and arrow that was etched in the piston.
obviously the valve reliefs and precup indent go twards the cam.
the rods were stamped outboard, meaning all stamps were visable while uninstalling.
the weight at the top of the rod goes opposite of the cam side.

will refer to stamping during install

I think this will be one of the best looking ford Idi engines out there. Curious to see how this engine would do on a dyno. Looking forward to coming by the house and checking out your projects in the near future Brian!

come by anytime!
hoping to make some progress on this soon!
i really need to finish a few things on the truck itself!
been doing engine work the past 2 weeks,

but itll be nice to finally see the engine come together!
sad thing is that i gotta pull the truck out of the shop soon so that i can do some side work.

Just a little correction to the piston "valve reliefs".. Those have nothing to do with the valve reliefs. Those are called Richardo cups and have everything to do with the charge coming out of the precups. They increase the burn by increasing the swirl of the fuel and flame front.

engine is now preped to start steam cleaning.
rainy crappy day to be out with a steam cleaner.
i gotta run to the store for some degreaser and some plastigauge.
then i can clean this badboy, dry it, and get ready to drop the crank in.

i hope mama is feeling up to watching the kids, or ill have to hang the baby jumpers from the forklift again LOL

i got the block steamcleaned,
air dryed, a coat of WD to remove any moisture.
in most of the oil passages.

grabed some spindle oil,(only thing i had)
ran the ball hone quickly through the cylinders,
ran a small bore hone through the lifters to make sure there clear.
machinist stone ran on the deck.
everything looked AOK!;Sweet
wrapped in a bag for tonight awaiting install of the rotating assembly tomorrow, if i can find my damn snapon ring compressor....
