nice to have it on that stand and not in the truck with things not working out right.

sounds like injector caused knock to me.

The slight tick I heard sounded like fuel knock to me...

How do you set the valve lash with the adjustable setup? Could just be a learning curve on that as there isn't really a "spec" is there? Does HS have any running videos to compare valve train noise?

It does sound healthy...

if it was a fuel tick the sound would have changed when the injector nut was loose.

hydraulic lifters are hydraulic lifters, and i set the rockers as such.
there was a distinct valvetrain noise that was there before and is now gone.
now, i know the rockers need to be re-adjusted, but they are not what were hearing.

its too bad we cant get into the cylinders with it closed up.

im gonna let the engine marinate for a few days, i have work work to do for the rest of the month.

What I here is the injection pump working and that is a sounds you will here no matter what. You might test this idea by listening to another injection pump run on another engine. then swap that other pump to this new rebuilt engine and listen again. From what I learned about injection pumps they will make a sound much different from other systems. It is a solid click sound when they are pumping fuel the way they are designed. The click I here is normal injection pump sound. Same with a well built injector. They click when they close.

could very well be just a fuel sound.
the IP is a bull moose i bought last year.
the sticks are mark II's that i had Mel go through after the tear down.

i have some things to do to the engine, but right now its all about making money.
large dollars on the line that need to be finished up by the end of the month.
and then its finishing the tear down on my truck and prime the door jambs.

im taking the cab and chassis to the the local Line X company to have the bottom undercoated.

thankfully its completely stripped and barley fits on my 16 foot trailer.
by inches!!!
i really need a bigger trailer.
