in the 5 seasons i have on my boat, ive only had to adjust the valves 2 or 3 times.
the biggest downfall is that when you leave a solid flat tappet engine sit for a while, its advisable to back the rockers off.
so you dont have premature wear in your valve springs.

once you get the engine up to temp, adjust the rockers, and tighten em down, you dont have to worry about it much.
unless its a hi po race engine, then i would be adjusting them every run lol

I had a friend who had a 60's Chevelle with a 327 engine. We decided to put a racing cam in it; a Duntov 30/30 cam and solid lifters. The lash was set at .030 intake and .030 exhaust, hence the name 30/30 cam. Setting the lash was a pain in the butt but when finished to sounded great. I was 19 years old at the time and this stuff was very cool! I am not sure if I would want more noise out of a diesel engine.

SCHWING!battabattabatta

yesterday i found out my pushrod length.
just got off the phone with Peter @ Smith Bro's
.312 rocker ball
.375" lifter ball
.375 diameter pushrod
9.600 in length.

these dimensions give me ample room for the adjuster, and the locking nut.
260+ shipping
should ship out tomorrow!!!

what changed was that when HS designed the rockers they assembled them backwards.
i did a ole flipper flopper on the rockers, and shafts and everything lined up.

i wanted to get it running, then i decided to do a ton of fab work.
and with the valve stems not being ground, i couldnt run the stock rockers.

pushrods should ship today as far as im told.
maybe get them on monday.
