Hey All!
So after owning this truck for a about a year I've decided its time celebrate hitting 200K and bring in some upgrades!
My pre-existing changes are: (Stage 1)
IP turned up 3 flats
replaced muffler with straight pipe
soup bowl removed
lift pump replaced with a 35 GPH electric fuel pump

So... not bad, these little changes were made to help with performance in daily driving and not really for fun.

Now I have:
Installed pyrometer
maxed IP out
purchased used ATS turbo (093)
spare 94 7.3 idi and ZF5 (came with turbo)

And I am waiting on my:
105 GPH Fuel Pump
Boost Gauge

Very excited! I will be updating this thread with pictures later today and as the project continues and I make progress or encounter problems!

Always open to input btw

-Wes

I would suggest to upgrade your pump and injectors, Conestoga diesel injection has a great line of IDI performance parts. You could also upgrade your camshaft. I did all this to my truck and it boogies along pretty good.

make sure that 093 is good to do,
I would have it rebuilt personally.
a new IP, matched injectors, and a cam are great mods.
odds are that maxed out IP will barley support the turbo.

Already have had my eyes on them! Bull Moose and Moose Misters will be coming when I have the money!

Uh OK Quick question. What pump is this going to be, and what psi of fuel pressure is it going to be putting out?

You are gonna hate me for it but its a Mr. Gasket Pump... I got it for almost free so I can't complain, it maxes out at 14 psi but it has an adjustment on it so I don't retard or advance my timing on my IP

Yeah Bull Moose on the way as soon as I can afford the Moose Misters and a decent IC, I plan on doing the cam when I upgrade my turbo and put head studs in!

Is there anything specific I should check before putting the turbo on? it was rebuilt before it was parked for 5 years when it immediately blew both head gaskets.
I would be fine with rebuilding it if you think it needs it, where could i get the rebuild kit? ATS? Here?

if you dont know the signs of a bad turbo, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REBUILD IT!

you have 2 options,
you can buy one from Mel, and send yours in as a core,
or send it to Russ for an eval.
get experienced hands on it, dont assume.

if you wanted to reduce the cost,
IMO Misters are not needed.
they are great injectors, and they are what im running,
but they are overkill!
the BB equivalent will do just as good with a Bull moose.
im not talking trash about CD's injectors, just sharing my experience.

a super moose will definitely need the misters.

I have a friend who is a retired international mechanic he is going to come by and check out the turbo and help me install it, myself being an idi owner, I don't know much about turbos and i was just wandering what I could check now before I pay to have a mechanic out.

The turbo spools fine but better on the exhaust end

Finally got a chance to update the build thread!
Since I last posted I have installed the 105 GPH Electric Fuel Pump (Not the one in the pic) and it has had a noticeable effect on my power, especially within higher rpms.

Here's some pictures from last week before I installed the new pump:
