Anyone have a tutorial or instructions to install at home? Is it best to pull the turbo?

Thanks.

I didn't - the worst that will happen is the little bit of shavings that fall through will pass right through the turbo and out the exhaust pipe. just go slow with the tapping so that you don't crack the cast and you'll do fine.

if you have a turbo you can do several things to keep the shavings out.

1. let the engine idle so it will blow the chips out as you go
2. coat the end of the drill bit with grease and take it a little at a time. the chips will stick to the grease, i have done this to keep metal shavings out of engines when the spark plug top half sheared off.
3. drop your cross over pipe so the shavings fall out (might be fun if its rusted fast)

those are the three easiest ways i know of to keep the metal shavings out.

On mine I used grease on the drill bit and tap,and then vacuumed out what I could get out. Then after everything was done I started the truck up and let it idle so all of the shavings went through the turbo without it spinning too fast.
