I recently noticed some coolant pooling in my Valley pan. I don't seem to be losing very much but it's obviously something I need to address. Any thoughts on where it could be leaking from? Valley pan, intake, head ? This an 84 6.9 and from what I've read the VP actually covers some open coolant ports.

My first suggestion would be to check your upper radiator hose at the thermostat housing. Perhaps there is a little seepage past the bottom of the hose and collecting on the pan. The clamp could be weak, or you could have one of these hoses that the manufacturer punched a hole in the end of the hose for a "hanging loop" to hang the hose on the wall. Sometimes those stupid little holes will leak depending on how the hose sits on the coolant outlet and where the clamp is located on the hose.

^^ agreed, if coolant is not coming from there, you need a new intake/pan gasket
coolant ports from the heads are not plugged. and can leak

It doesn't look like it's coming from the radiator hose but I'll snug it down a bit anyway.

If I have to replace the valley pan what needs to come out. Intake and IP?
