ive always been told that on a primer wetsand job you want to use 320 max.
im no painter, but i aint sanding this thing with 320 after the first coat of enamel
hell the 180 grit gets gumed up lol maybe the paint isnt fully cure. but i believe i can get her sanded, cleaned and resprayed to my desire finish.

im not trying to accomplish a show quality paint job, but im learning lots!

I waited 24 hours between coats and used 600 grit between them as well (Majik brand enamel from TSC). I stopped wet sanding after the forest coat of primer because I couldn't get all that wet paint dust off anything and when it dried it just stuck on there. Worst of my first paint job this week was particulate matter blowing in the room onto the paint (very small) and one fender that when moving got a good 5-7" scrap in the finished red enamel that I buffed with the 600 grit before I sprayed the white over it. Can't see it unless you're gave is right next to it LOL

The paint I used also called for 8:1 ratio on reducer and 16:1 on hardener. I was mixing 16oz paint with 1oz reducer and 1/2oz hardener. Did just a tad more hardener for top coat.

this takes me back.i dunno how many years ago now,but i sprayed one of my fathers old trucks with a gray single stage paint.he did the body work he wanted to it and i shot it for him.it turned out great and lasted decent for about 7 years until he finally sold it.this was a 84 f250 reg cab.must of been nearly 15 years ago now.i didn't get any runs because i first shot a test panel like under the hood iirc and went until it started to run, this way i knew how long it would take if i stayed in one spot too long.your making me want to go ahead an tackle log truck myself.
keep at 'er.;Sweet

Sand on 'er some and shoot that panel again. I got lucky for my first time painting and have a friend just down the road that used to do body work for a living. A chebby guy, but I don't good that against him LOL My enamel came out pretty nice simply due to his good advice and sharing of experience. I still don't like body work though. Glasses now permanently have red on them and I have 2 scabs on my head where the red snuck through my mask seal and stuck to my head

But the new body parts look spiffy!
