I have been looking for slant nose front clip and a 6.9L to rebuild. Well, I found a 1986 f250 4wd, for around a thousand, but the owner says it has poor compression. Should I steer clear, or would it still be a good candidate for rebuild? Thanks.

Did he explain why he though t it had low compression? May just need new injectors and an ip. Possibly just a little tuneup would bring her back to life.

Yeah, I'd ask why he said the compression was bad? If its just that it's hard to start, it may be something as easy as glow plugs and a return line kit.:dunno

I sent him an email asking if he actually pressure tested it or if it was just running bad, and I haven't heard back. I'll probably give him a call tonight.

If it does actually have low compression, is it worth rebuilding? What could be causing it?

Thanks for the help.

It could just be worn rings, a bad head gasket(s), or something more serious like a cracked head(s)/block.
