6.9 tach sensor source?

We only have Napa and Oriely in my county. No luck finding a tach sensor listed with them. Anyone have a non-dealer source for the tach sensor?

check out for the part number in the "parts bin" in the tech articles and try an online source. btw.....if you are within reasonable driving distance to Folsom Lake Ford, they are prolly the most reasonable parts dept in the area.

Those buggers aren't cheap! I pulled mine out and cleaned it today, nothing to see or fix. Gonna have to wait for payday.

Looking at the front of the engine, to the right of the oilfill in the IP gear housing. Look for the 1" nut with 2 wires coming out the center.

my 6.9 dont have that on the gear cover

You can get one off a later 6.9 or a 7.3. Orrrr, I have a couple extra housings, I think one of each style. Let me check to make sure.

where would the tach reader go since i dont have that gear cover ?

So you have a tach that works but not the stock sender? Possibly a magnet on the crank pulley or possibly hooked up to the alt.

well last time i started the truck is when the IP went bad but still started and the alt went out at the same time......it never worked till the alt went out on it then it worked if u reved it

Another noob question is it possible to hook up an after market tach such as sunpro or others tothe stock sensor ?
