rebuilding a IH idi is "affordable"
rebuilding a Cummins will eat you alive. AKA...if you have to ask...you can't afford it.
ok heres my plan on this 1st gen 5.9
3200RPM VE Governor Spring, 16 sq.cm. Turbo Exhaust Housing Non-WG, Old Smoky Power Pin, Airdog 150GPH Lift Pump & Filter System does anyone have any idea of how much power il get?
Why do you want a high rpm gov spring? These engines make max torque around 1600-1800ish. I can't see reving these things to the moon. My gov is stock and it works fine for me. Is your truck going to be a toy, or do you want it to live a long dependable life? If you stay with a stock gov, I'd suggest going with a 12cm housing. It will spool quick and not be a serious restriction at gov rpm. If you go with the high rpm, I would stick with the 16cm housing to limit high rpm exhaust restriction. The hp you make will depend on how much you turn up the fuel screw. Please resist the temptation to crank up the fuel and make a ton of smoke for no reason. My truck hardly smokes and it runs pretty hard, no idea of hp though.
