my F450's are geared at 4.62 and 5.13 and i'm running 235/85/16 E tires. all of them can pull a house down with no issues. Seriously tho, techical gvwr is 15k/lbs but I'm frequently in the 16-18k/lb range. it does take a little while to get to 65 mph but it's not too far out of line compared to a heavy bobtail truck.

37" rubber will be pretty heavy and swapping to 4.88 gears just makes it like running 4.10's with oem tire size.id want more gear for towing 10k lbs with heavy meats like that.id swap in at bare minimum the 5.13's.
the 5.13's are extremely impressive with 235/85/16 but they'll just be like 4.40 gears in your truck and feel like a truck with 235/85/16 with 4.10's probably.the bit extra to compensate for the extra tire weight.

strongly consider the 5.13 ring and pinion for 37" meats (for the 4.40 effective ratio) and 10k lb trailer towing.anything less, and i think you'd wish you went with more gear.

all i need for my f450 with the banks turbo/intercooler/maxed ip/G codes/8* BTDC are 4.30's.the 5.13's in the dana 80 are stupid fun though! i can haul a house uphill in OD while gaining speed.:D
(while still getting 460 srw pickup truck economy of 9 mpg though.)

if i were to run a turbo idi pickup with 37" rubber and i planned to tow 10k with it,the only thing id be contemplating is 5.13 or the 5.38 r&p.

I've been running military 37s on my truck for almost 4 years now with 4:10s (evens out to about 3.55 ratio). No issues hauling a flatbed trailer with my 1962 Thunderbird (that weighs close to what my truck does) up a good grade, and that's with a NA 6.9. No complaints at all.

I have 37" military tires on my truck. Banks/turned up pump/5spd/flatbed. I crossed the scales at the scrap yard at 12.5k the other evening and didn't have a single problem.

hmm, im going to be running 37s and 3.73 gears. Im sure it will suck in town getting started, but I really like that I will be turning 1600 rpm in 5th. And can always drop it into 4th and turn 2000 to tow at 60mph. Less stress on the trans too! Will be using a twin stick np205 so can do rear only low for low speed maneverability.

Would love some 5.10 gears..but with a massive OD unit behind the trans. best of everything!

thanks guys... 4.88 & up in gearing will now be a big thought..right now i have 265/75-16, with the stock 3.55s.. no trailer its fine, and hwy it really isn't bad hauling the trailer, but getting around town sucks, getting off the line is terrible... thinking 37s, maybe 5.13s now, and so ladder bars to keep the twist down..
