When you start it cold people say it should sound like a psd. Basically more rattle than usual until the high-idle kicks off. The peddle should feel a little touchy also. It's the plug on the drivers side of the pump towards the back. If there's a huge difference in power when it's on, most likely your timing is way off.

well i have no idea what a psd sounds like, but it does seem to have a rattle sound when it starts up. the only power difference i notice is of course when i drive it when the fast idle is still engaged when i drive it, it just drives faster due to the high rpms

I would still say timing. The wmo will make you loss a little power IIRC.

either way, i dont have access to a timing meter anywhere near me....

You could always try adjusting it a little bit. Just make a mark where it's at now so you can return it if you don't make any progress.

Those marks aren't always accurate is the problem.
