Cannot seem to find it now but I had a post in the marketplace from a long while back. I pulled the drivetrain from my 84 and refreshed everything and decided to go cummins instead halfway so I have a refreshed and painted ford blue T19 and a refreshed 1345 available for sale if interested... oh...
If that is the case... the trac bar should be holding it in position... the only thing left for movement would be bushings... on the trac bar and the springs/shackles.
Also maybe toe-in the tires a bit?
make sure the bracket for the track bar is beefy enough and not flexing
try to match the angle of the pitman arm to the trac bar
rotate tires around from the back as once the have been worn with poor geometry, they can potentially cause problems
I used a clamp-on tach for my mechanically injected cummins and it works (only problems I had was due to a dirty ground)
I assume this works the same 'cept just hooks up to a timing light. The only thing to make sure is that you get the right size clamp as there are different diameter fuel...
PO was a chubby-chaser and wanted the truck to ride level?
...or maybe in an accident or some kinda damage and was trying to level things out without fixing properly
<shrug>
just pull it out and see how it sits?
check out "High Impact" for an adaptor plate or bell housing... they should have one but they tend to be pricey and might be where you are getting the 3k price tag from.
also might wanna give the folks at nv4500.com a call as they do have lots of stuff like this but did not see that specific...
lots of off-roaders use them on anything light-duty... and kingpin 60s from our trucks are pretty much the most desirable model
they are about the strongest steering axle you can get without going to 2.5 ton rockwells
it is normal to hear that clicking but your system is cycling way too quick... there is something wrong with the circuit but it obviously still starts
no idea bout the trans - sure does not sound right though
is it only when cold? cummins have intake grid heaters which take power like crazy so if it is dropping voltage when cold... it is just the grid kicking on
they tend to cycle a bit
guess we turned this into a hydraulic safety thread... oops
actually fluids do not store energy like gas or air does... so even if whatever was securing it was to fail, it should just kinda nudge up a little
good advice and one thing about brake cleaner... a great all around cleaner but just make sure it is not chlorinated or else it makes residue that turns into nastiness that can kill you when heated
in case you do try to approach the project again... be careful with those pinhole leaks - direct contact with your hand and you can get an injection of diesel or whatever you are pumping and you DO NOT want to deal with that type of injury
long story short, likely amputation
just be careful...
I put a complete engine on the red HF 2k? stand and it took it well but still had a good amount of flex when the load was applied. When using HF load bearing stuff, I like to half their rated capacity for a little extra FOS.
let me second that one... will quote most of what people have already recommended... but I would guess that it would be cheaper to buy local
as far as weight and specs... google dana 60 bible to get a link to P4x4 with all kinda of specs. I believe a fully loaded axle is in the territory of 1k...
Thanks for filling in the gaps
the barbs - yeah, not too crazy about those and will likely update down the road
also echo about the switch for the fuel gauge... mine is near the dash but there is nothing remotely stock about that on mine so your approach may be more elegant for most.
Fuel valves for marine applications. Do no remember the exact supplier but just look around and I am sure you can find similar. Get 3/8" or larger if possible - do not want to create any possible restrictions.
Here is what I did on mine... old in progress pics and still needs a lot of cleaning up but you get the idea -
The one port is blocked off for potential future addition of a third tank. The valves are located right next to the driver's seat and can be accessed while driving, just gotta...
