I used a clamp-on tach for my mechanically injected cummins and it works (only problems I had was due to a dirty ground)

I assume this works the same 'cept just hooks up to a timing light. The only thing to make sure is that you get the right size clamp as there are different diameter fuel injection lines and I am not sure what IDIs use.

Long story short - should work

I would wait for someone else to chime in to make sure.

The price is way too high. Its a knockoff kent moore J33300 meter... Will it work for us... Sure but. Just continue watching ebay for a kent moore J33300-A meter. They are simple to operate.. You are the 6th member in line torent one of my meters from my list of those that have expressed an interest in timing their trucks. I'm bending wrenches at this time attempting to make this timing a painless process for everyone. As this rentalservice gets going I will probably be selling off some of my meters. I will not be asking anymore than I paid for them on ebay. The one meter I will not sell is the new factory boxed snapon mt 1480 that willnot work for the diesel timing. It works fine doing gasser timing... Its just kinda a time capsul that I want to keep...:D

Your way ahead money wise with a Ferret pickup. Ferret $192 now, and a good timing lite for a $100. Timing lite is from Azone an Acutron.
