The previous owner cut the steel fuel line between the lift pump and the fuel filter and spliced it together with rubber fuel hose. Since there are no barbs on the steel lines these connections leak. I would like to replace with rubber fuel hose and barbed hose fitting. Does anyone know what...
Thanks everyone! I found a screw in the shop yesterday that worked but I may get the right size with the spring now that I know the size. I put a dab of superglue to hold the screw in place as a temporary solution.
That's what I'll end up doing, finding a screw at the hardware store. I've been runing it without the screw for a couple years. The problem I have is when the idle is adjusted correctly and the cold idle kicks in it idles too high so I have to compensate for that and adjust the idle down.
My idle screw is missing from my injection pump and the throttle is resting on the cold idle solenoid. Does anyone know where I can get an idle screw without buying a new IP?
The same thing just happened to me. My son is driving one of my trucks to college, about a 2 hour drive away. He came home Friday night for Easter weekend and parked the truck. Saturday morning I went out and saw a puddle of anti-freeze under the truck. It turned out the previous owner had...
Manual with a pull out switch. I bought it like that and never got around to putting a momentary push button switch or putting it back to stock. I put a momentary switch in it first thing after I got it back home.
Head is off now. I have never ran anything but Motorcraft/Beru glow plugs, my son puts autolites in and three starts later the head is off. It was in the number one cylinder.
That was with the Motorcraft/BERU plugs. They were burned out but came right out. My son then replaced them with autolites without calling me and this is what happened.
Is it worth taking the chance of messing something up? Couldn't is screw up a valve or worse? How would I know if it was still in there unless it gets shot thru the hood or something? Could it get by the exhaust valve and into the exhaust manifold, again how would I know? It's not a small...
How much do you guys think it would cost to have the heads pulled if I have someone do it? I don't have the time to do it. The truck mechanically is like new, there's no rust at all, new Michelin tires so its probably worth spending some money into it. The biggest problem is finding someone I...
I tried blowing compressed air thru the injector hole while using the vac on the injector hole. I can't see anything moving in there. It is at TDC and was when it tried to pull the plug, that's why I would think I could feel it when poking around with a flexible hose. Nothing!
Great...
Any recommendations where to take it near Fredericksburg, VA. I'd haul it a ways if I could find a good mechanic that I trusted working on an old diesel.
I tried everything and couldn't get it. I saw someone on here hook up a straw to a vacuum and get hold of it thru the injector hole. Didn't work, can't feel anything loose in there. I have been running Motorcraft/BERU for years with no problems. I can't believe they swelled up that quick...
