    Lift pump thread size

Would it be a 6AN Male x 3/8" hose adapter work? Could it be 6AN and not NPT?

    Lift pump thread size

The previous owner cut the steel fuel line between the lift pump and the fuel filter and spliced it together with rubber fuel hose. Since there are no barbs on the steel lines these connections leak. I would like to replace with rubber fuel hose and barbed hose fitting. Does anyone know what...

    IP Idle Screw Missing

Thanks everyone! I found a screw in the shop yesterday that worked but I may get the right size with the spring now that I know the size. I put a dab of superglue to hold the screw in place as a temporary solution.

    IP Idle Screw Missing

That's what I'll end up doing, finding a screw at the hardware store. I've been runing it without the screw for a couple years. The problem I have is when the idle is adjusted correctly and the cold idle kicks in it idles too high so I have to compensate for that and adjust the idle down.

    IP Idle Screw Missing

My idle screw is missing from my injection pump and the throttle is resting on the cold idle solenoid. Does anyone know where I can get an idle screw without buying a new IP?

I've had the truck for a couple years and never noticed it.

Rubber plug in place of block heater, 10 years later...

The same thing just happened to me. My son is driving one of my trucks to college, about a 2 hour drive away. He came home Friday night for Easter weekend and parked the truck. Saturday morning I went out and saw a puddle of anti-freeze under the truck. It turned out the previous owner had...

    Burned out glow plug

Manual with a pull out switch. I bought it like that and never got around to putting a momentary push button switch or putting it back to stock. I put a momentary switch in it first thing after I got it back home.

    Burned out glow plug

Head is off now. I have never ran anything but Motorcraft/Beru glow plugs, my son puts autolites in and three starts later the head is off. It was in the number one cylinder.

    Burned out glow plug

The Motorcraft plugs help up incredibly well for what they went through!

    Burned out glow plug

That was with the Motorcraft/BERU plugs. They were burned out but came right out. My son then replaced them with autolites without calling me and this is what happened.

    Burned out glow plug

Here is an Autolite glow plug after only 3 starts cycling them for about 12 to 15 seconds. Retrieved from the cylinder.

    Glow Plug Broke

The other thing without the injector connected I'd have a serious air intrusion issue wouldn't I?

    Glow Plug Broke

Is it worth taking the chance of messing something up? Couldn't is screw up a valve or worse? How would I know if it was still in there unless it gets shot thru the hood or something? Could it get by the exhaust valve and into the exhaust manifold, again how would I know? It's not a small...

    Glow Plug Broke

Sounds like you had the same problem as I do except you were able to get to yours. That's awesome, glad you got yours out. I know it is a big relief.

    Glow Plug Broke

How much do you guys think it would cost to have the heads pulled if I have someone do it? I don't have the time to do it. The truck mechanically is like new, there's no rust at all, new Michelin tires so its probably worth spending some money into it. The biggest problem is finding someone I...

    Glow Plug Broke

Like oldbull8 said they are stainless steel and I broke off about 1/2 inch or more of the tip. Can't imagine starting it with that in there.

    Glow Plug Broke

I tried blowing compressed air thru the injector hole while using the vac on the injector hole. I can't see anything moving in there. It is at TDC and was when it tried to pull the plug, that's why I would think I could feel it when poking around with a flexible hose. Nothing! Great...

    Glow Plug Broke

No and I can see in the glow plug hole and the injector hole.

    Glow Plug Broke

I agree it should have been a momentary switch or stock. Nothing I can do about that now. I'm pretty sure it broke off.

    Glow Plug Broke

Any recommendations where to take it near Fredericksburg, VA. I'd haul it a ways if I could find a good mechanic that I trusted working on an old diesel.

    Glow Plug Broke

I tried everything and couldn't get it. I saw someone on here hook up a straw to a vacuum and get hold of it thru the injector hole. Didn't work, can't feel anything loose in there. I have been running Motorcraft/BERU for years with no problems. I can't believe they swelled up that quick...

    Glow Plug Broke

I haven't tried to suck it out yet but the good news is it is at TDC and the broke GP is in the number one cylinder. Hopefully I can grab it.
