    Looking for Banks Filter P/N

Thanks for the help guys. I think what Gruss has done with the open unit pre air box is probably what my friend should have. We should be able to access that type of equipment locally and avoid the internal conundrums. Much appreciated, Lorne

    Looking for Banks Filter P/N

Actually this is a square filter, and fits inside the two halves of the air induction housing. It is basically like a traditional round filter compressed into a rectangle, rubber gaskets both sides. Because it has to sit within the formed channels on either side of the aluminum housings, an old...

    Looking for Banks Filter P/N

Greetings all, been a while since posting here. I've a friend with an 89 F250 & Banks turbo kit. He's had some bad luck with the internal locating K&N air filter. Perhaps if someone has a filter part number, for a regular replacable type I'd be grateful for the info. Lorne

Here you go guys the D-C truck video

:Whatever: Seems like your advice a while back was that it was foolish to get so deeply embroiled in these "truck procedures". (double clutching a standard being a waste of time, and "hemi" clutch linkage joints being the end all/ be all) So, am I wrong or should you just get a class 8...

    Rear Axle Seal Question...

Rear hubs are full floating design, the bearings are fed gear oil via the axle shaft, hence no need to grease the bearings. Chicago Rawhide (CR) seals have worked well for me, never had a comeback. I've had very bad life from the OEM seals. Just a little prelube into the two piece seal...

    Cheap Turbo?

Actually, this might be possible if you were to use a diesel powered leaf blower with a Turbo on it :Sly While your at it, if the leaf blower was reversable, you'd be able to clean your air filter too, or at least get rid of leaves that had pulled in there. :backoff

    Block Heater?

:popcorn So, to simplify further, some things might benifit from being "plugged in" ( :Sly ) with a timer involved, other stuff shouldn't have a timer involved at all ( :Sly   :fart :idiot: :Sly )

    Block Heater?

Do the timer thing for efficiency. Even leaving it plugged in all night probably won't satisfy her "warmth expectations". However, you could put a small portable heater in the vehicle and have it plugged into the timer as well for "general effulgence" (that's a good thing)

What must I do to make it sound good?!!

Was the V-8 stock in your B model? Years ago I had the same year, B75 with ENDT673 (bone stock), with the triplex and same drivetrain. There wasn't a heck of a lot of room under the side hinged hood flaps, even for the inline. As far as sweet sounds, I'll put two bits in for the other side...

    Brake Lock

A hard pedal may be another issue, but your locking (rear?) wheels sounds a lot like leaking wheel seals. Easy enough to inspect for that.

Does this affect your "Leak Free" status? :Sly

    Kill Switch

Had a friend route his battery cables up to a manual disconnect switch, the turn handle of which was accessable under his driver seat, cables and switch under the floor boards. This would be your traditional class 8 truck battery knife switch, Cole Hersee, etc. His reason was as a theft...

    Engine siezed

Having to say, that the image of a "PB Blaster" enema is just a bit too much :rotflmao - don't do it.

    Engine siezed

Any water showing in the base if you pull the plug? If you do get it running without a tear down, starting fluid, and even WD 40 works well to pin point small induction system leaks, rpm's jump up when fluid sucks inward.

    Engine siezed

Mel, do you know if the engine turned over prior to the wash job? If so, then even a couple of weeks in a slightly frozen state should yeild to soaking and gentle crankshaft roatations. Once turning over, leave the glow plugs out and crank it lots with more penetrant to "rinse & flush" out as...

    Twin turboing, and turbos...

Sequencial turbos are the proper manner to run twins. As mentioned, twins in parallel might plumb up easier, but as for lasting longer than a single, that won't apply. Unless your wanting to bomb your engine out of existence with high boost( :backoff ), sequencials in series when properly mapped...

    Big Time Smoke in Reverse

Sounds an awful lot like fuel pump air issues, or the cold start timing solenoid energizing. The cold start solenoid pressurizes the injection housing, changing timing and can provide a bit of a "launch" effect when engaged. Either one is a long shot for an electrical conection while in...

    Rear Axle Seals

Another tip for these two piece seals assemblies; start up is a lot easier on them if you rotate the inner and pull it away from the outer, then squirt a few shots of oil inward on the opened passageway. Push it back into full contact and turn the two pieces independently to give the seal...

    Maxing out the fuel screw?

I can't answer that question for sure, but a ball park guess for a NA engine might be about 1 turn. Regardless, there won't be a lot of inward movement possible on a NA engine without consiquences, smoke, heat, cylinder wash, and component stress. I'm a firm believer in these engines, but I...

    Maxing out the fuel screw?

There isn't really much flex in the leaf spring, it has a flat surface to tension against which allows additional extension of the cam rollers. Pretty sure I heard someone propose that the rotor plungers might jam from traveling that distance out of their bores, but like others here, I've had...

    batteries

I seemed to make it to roughly 3 years for each new set I've installed since 1990 like clockwork, with the exception of some Interstates that I've had now close to 5 years - works for me :Sly

    low boost

Well Nick, my non wasted gated ATS will provide upwards of 12psi pegged, M/T or loaded while on a grade (not that I spend much time there anymore, my philosophy these days is more towards longevity of the old girl, than blazing performance oft times followed by unwanted shop time and wallet...

Old IDIs are getting hard to find

Well, Pacific/ Kenworth - I for one am somewhat relieved to see this post back up again. Kind of like an old friend amidst all the cares and turmoil of our busy days. Heck, almost like a trusty old icon you can admire and know you'll be seeing around for a good long time. :Sly I'm not sure I...
