    I used three super large sized wire ties as a temporary measure which have held up quite well. They may become permanent at some point. I've seen someone use a couple of steel bands like what is used in shipping large crates too.

    EGT theory, correct me if i'm wrong.

    My 6.9 NA truck cruises in the 600 to 900 range depending on the load, and incline of the road. But on a long steep hill with the foot feed buried, I can hit 1200 very easily. I usually try to lightly back off if I can, or downshift to drop the temps.

    Plastic sleeve Yes, I agree. Mine was getting a bit sketchy-looking and I removed it with no problems. There was a part to my speed control system attached to it but that no longer worked so I ditched all that too.

    Heater not blowing very hard

    Clean your connectors I cleaned all associated connectors, rewired the ground, and my blower perked up quite a bit. I also sealed all of the ducts with weather seal foam and brought my heater system up to a respectable degree of performance. It is worth a try!

    gauges

    I have a NA 6.9l and an isspro mechanical pyrometer. I can get that sucker up to 1200 easily by flooring the vehicle up a hill. (Yeah... hills in Colorado are pretty tall!)

    Hall of shame Yes, I will check out the hall of shame before buying anything. My pump was rebuilt last year so I would really hate to be replacing it..... I just cannot take my 35 miles per hour top speed in third gear any longer! The original ford spec pump would get me to 45 in third gear...
