The tabs for the sender moved between the model years. You just need to cut for you tab orientation. I bought the one from rockauto because that one is NOT galv.
The axle from the 88 f350 should be a solid axle Dana 60. The pumpkin is in the wrong place to fit the older frames. If it is the ttb Dana 50, don't waste your time. Unless you abuse it ( wheelin', etc) it should be just fine.

You can keep the original tach. Just setup something as a tone ring. I had the damper on my 24v machined with small grooves to act as the tone ring and mounted the idi tach sensor on a bracket.
I am looking for the wiring harness for the cab clearance lights that plugs in near the passenger footwell and powers the clearance lights on the roof. If you want to throw in the lights as well that would be OK.

Don't give up on it that easy. Even if it turns out to be an ip they aren't that hard to change. I think the first time I changed one it took 5-6 hrs. Now I can change one in about three hours. Not only that the parts are so much cheaper compared to newer rigs.
