For your air intake, any chance that you could run it into the bed up underneath the toolbox? I don't know if your toolbox is rail-mounted or not; most of those boxes have an airspace underneath of them. Just a thought.

And I'd definitely run a full synthetic oil in your turbo lube system, as the turbo bearing really likes to cook the oil.

when i read your post that was the first thing that popped into my head was the hose some how coming apart going down hill from there. I think you are going to end up making a cold pipe with normal piping.

I'm with alienturtle on this one. I am thinking you just might have to do regular hard pipes. Idk about the flex pipe at all but I haven't ever seen it done before. Are the creases in the flex pipe even air tight or would they leak a bit? Idk even what those creases are made of to make it flexible. Lol

flex pipe is leak free. I would use flex pipe at some point in the piping just like they do for stack piping. That will allow some flex in the piping for what ever reason.

There is a small air pocket and this is probably the direction I'll go in the future. To do it, I'd have to restrict the 4" pipe down to at least 3", maybe 2.5". Does anyone see this as an issue for proper fresh air? It would have to be done to make a tight enough bend in the tight space I've got to work with now.

i wouldnt chock it down past what the inlet of the turbine is. You will have to let that poor guy breath. What would be cool would be to 90 it straight up into the bed and make a shield for it right next to your in bed fuel tank. Is you fuel tank going to stretch all the way across or will it have room on each side of the tank?

Problem is in order to do this I'll have to move the turbo back further, and longer feed and oil return lines. It can be done though. As it stands now, it's very close to the front edge of the pickup bed itself.

Can a 4" drill saw be bought? I don't want to use a torch because I've got a really nice layer of spray in bed liner in the bed and the torch would definetely damage that.

I guess if I REALLY had a hankering for turbo whistle I could always put the air cleaner in the cab behind my kids seats. LOL

lol YES!! inside the cab! splendid idea! haha. Yes i cut my 4" hole for my stacks with a wood hole saw :) It took a while lol and i dont recommend it lol :) but a metal 4" and 4 1/2" hole saw can be bought if you end up going that way. Honestly for the 1 time you are going to use it check harborfreight.

When I first built my system, I stubbed the intake pipe up into the front corner of the bed and since I didn't have a good system to keep it out of the weather right away, I put a plastic bag over it and tied it tight. when I drove it home, I forgot about the bag. You want to talk about black smoke and no power. My wife was following me home (she wasn't as excited about it as I was anyway) and she was less than thrilled about the serious smoke out until I remembered to take the bag off.

Wow Flatlander, its been a while since I have seen you around. What did you do to protect the filter when you had the chance to fix it? Oh and I also look forward to Ron resurrecting your engine too. It should be neat to see how it runs...
