first off..the 25mic isnt fine enough...FRAM suks...and it appears to be a remote mount oil filter with some sort of heater and t-stat...

but how well would it work??

that ph16 filter is off of a dodge ram 360 truck i know that much, but how you would connect this up so you can start the truck on diesel then switch it to WVO is beyond me, give it a shot whats the worst that can happen?

Ive been thinkin a ton about the wvo. wouldnt be to hard to run veggy in one tank and diesel for starting in another. use the splitter valve to switch between the two, and hook the heater up to the selector switch so when it swaps to the veggy tank it heats it.

Wanderer if you can get the wvo from work, I'm all for it incase we need to drive these things to moab.


The little heater between the pump and filter on my truck is leaking, I'm looking into the above for a replacment since I need to splice into the lines anyhow when I put the electric pump on.
But I dont know if 180 degree's is to much heat for striaght diesel, or if I can hook that onto the factory heater wire so it only functions when it should or what.

maier runs the dual tank setup....the systems Ive seen push it 160..our stock setups run it at engine temp which is 200-230...so 180 should be fine..

I think we should fly...4-5hr flight vs 2 day drive!!

You have to watch out with those glow plug in a filter head setups. you need the appropriate wire size and fuse is a must. I don't think most a made to run for a long time ON. I see this as an easy way to create a fire, that is why I removed it and put another coolant heat exchanger.

Good link...those filters would be good for a lot of apps. Using 1/4" NPT thread I wonder if it would flow enough fuel for our motors would a 3/8" fuel hose fit up to that? I should get two...one for the truck and one more for the boat!

If a person wanted to use a setup like this, would it be a good idea to put a second heating element in the other available port? Wire it in paralell with the one that's there, and control both of them with the same temp switch. Kind of share the load between them. I'd think they'd last a lot longer that way.....

I'm also wondering if it would work to wire the two of them in series instead - so that they wouldn't get so hot....

Don't know if you have room for this filter on EvilBay on your trucks, but the advantage is having a drain on the water separator filter.

Might want to check the part # on that filter element. you could probably rig up that setup for less. Those filter heads are usually less than $5 at the Western Star dealer here.

Did the bus have a DT 360/466? I know that filter will bolt up...but I assumed it would not clear the valve cover.

I'm not sure engine was gone, all i got was two filter head set ups, one fuel and one hydro? i got the fuel one installed tonight. just going to see how it will work? I'll have to find another place for it mount so i can hook my ac back up. I'll get some pictures in the morning.
