SUCCESS!
started out rocky.
the first 100 miles got my blood pumpin.
an oscillating noise that didn't change with RPM or braking.
but changed with speed.
stopped at the first rest stop and spent about 45 minutes looking things over and found nothing.
got back on the road, and a few miles later, THUNK!..and noise is gone
was a oah **** moment.
then I saw a rock bounce off the pavement.
musta been a rock in the new tires lol.
and then on the 4000 feet climb @ 6%, 103* out, my truck decided to sweat a little,
coolant temps shot up to about 230* and I had to back out of the throttle a bit.
got 37 honks and thumbs up's on the way down, but only 6 of those were post Grapevine(the mountain range that separates cen cal from so cal)
parking is a pain in so cal, much like any big city.
took the kids to lego land,
and enjoyed the beach for a week.
decided it was wise to leave at 2030, vs driving in the heat.
a cool over cast night on the "grapevine"
truck did just fine for the first part in 5th,
had to drop down to 4th, but still maintained about 60-65 mph on the way home finishing the grade.
temps leveled off at 220 and stayed there.
pyro didn't exceed 1150, with my foot wooded.
but a nice cloud out of the pipe.
too dark to see how thick.
the rest of the trip was a jaunt about 300 miles in 5th between 80-85 mph.
6 hour trip with only 2 stops for the dogs and kids.
got home @ 0230 but the babies were UP and wanted to play.
so I stayed up till 0600, gonna be a good nap day.
the only casualty was the red white and blew I flew for 500 miles.
divided at the colonies, but the union stayed together
burn it or display it?
