So, I've got my pyro installed in the header of my 7.3. I located it next to the #8 cylinder (because that's where it gets hot, right?).

What's a safe temp to shoot for? I'm trying to keep it under 1000, but in the afternoon, it'll hit that with no problems. Of course, I have a stock air filter, and it's sucking hot air from under the hood.

Specs: 94 7.3 NA, in a 95 CC F350.

I intend to extend the intake over to the DS headlight area (already moved the battery) so it can suck cooler air. Any other tips? What are good safe temps to shoot for?

1200 to 1250 for me, but that only happens with the RPM's over 3K at full throttle. 'Don't spend much time at 1200, but I'm not worried either. IP is not turned up, air filter is dry paper, cold air intake is essentially stock (just some hood insulation removed), and the soup bowl is unmodified. Pressure drop from the filter and everything is only 7" water at 3300 RPM -- and the filter is about 5" of the 7" if I remember correctly. I figured there was little reason to mod the stock intake based on these pressure drop figures.

Mine doesn't spend prolonged periods of time at 1K - usually when I'm at low rpms in 4th, and accelrating towards 5th gear.

I'm pretty sure a cool air intake will help the temps some. We'll see.

I would do 1100* max sustained (aka hold it there forever), 1200* for a minute, 1300* for 30 seconds, 1400* for 10-15, 1500* for 5-10, 1600* for 5, 1700 -2000* for 2-3 seconds. Thats the way I would do it. Thank goodness I've never seen over 1250* LOL

And also the DB2 lack of fuel abilites will help limit EGT's as well.
