I have a 91 with a 5 speed in it and i replaced the oil in the trans not to long ago. I bought 8 quarts of oil and still have 2.5 left over. I thought the capacity of these trannys was like 7. something quarts I filled it up until oil started pouring out of the side cap, should i fill it up more or just call it good

Do you have a dual mass flywheel or a solid flywheel? I know In the IDI tech articles In the lucky mod section, (I belive it is mel)suggests to overfill the zf up to about 2 gallons. The reason for this is it helps mute some of the gear rollover noise from the solid flywheel.

Should have been ATF, and a little over fill never hurts. Oil is too thick kinda hard to shift, but makes it quite.
