One decent truck out of two.

So I guess its time to resurrect this thread...
July 2016 I blew up the 85 engine (rod bearing) on my 700 mile vacation trip. The truck sat at a truck stop for a week and then was hauled 120 miles to my brothers house where it sat for a year. I put head studs, gaskets, RMS, and other misc stuff on the original 83 engine and shipped it via fastenal to my brothers house. Got the engine swap done on my summer vacation and then "test drove" it at silver lake, then 700 miles back to work. Drove the truck for a couple more years and then July of 2021 it either blew a head gasket or cavitated. Had water in the oil and was hydrolocking. Pretty sure I bent a rod trying to start it too.
Truck sat for 5 years until now. I am moving back home and need/miss my truck. I decided I was going to fix it and bought an engine off of facebook for way too much money, got there and it was completely stripped of accessories Bought it anyway. THEN I went out and looked at the truck, which was in WAY worse condition than I thought... Well, I bought the engine already so I guess we are committed now...
Cleaned all the stuff out of the bed and the cab, vacuumed up all of the mouse crap, put air in the tires, and hauled it to my friends shop. Yesterday we got it pushed into the shop and I got the engine pulled out. Was not expecting to make progress that quick so of course I have none of the parts I need now and will have to wait till monday after work to put the engine in hopefully.
I will have to figure out what I am going to do with the fuel tanks full of 5 year old B20 and hydraulic oil, Fix some wiring, swap in some rust free fenders, find some doors and interior pieces, put the bed on from the black truck, get rotors machined, ETC.
Yes I would have been better off just scrapping the truck and starting over, but here we are...

Well not much to update. I didnt make progress as fast as I wanted to and the truck is still in the shop torn apart. Hurt my back about 3 weeks ago and it has really slowed me down.
I took the bellhousing off and got a couple cracks welded up, removed rear bumper, removed both fuel tanks, removed all of the rubber fuel lines and FSV, made a new brake line from the frame rail back to the rear brakes, installed 3 new rubber brake hoses, removed/fixed/re loomed the frame rail harness (even though its a corroded mess and probly wont work anyway), deleted a bunch of unnecessary brackets and mounts on the frame, bought a new rear tank and sender, installed a pre filter on the frame with the ugliest sheet metal bracket ever made, ran new fuel hoses, made lift pump/filter/IP push lock hoses, removed/cleaned out heater box, return line kit, removed broken tap and rethreaded manifold hole, installed manifolds, installed flywheel and PPA, probly some other stuff Im forgetting...
I need to finish the fuel hoses, install fuel tank, install engine, fix some more wiring, reinstall header panel and hood, then the truck will be driveable.
After that it still needs a bunch of stuff like bed swap, fender swap, doors, etc.
A lot of work to still have a junk cab with holes in the floor lol


Also, if anyone has a ZA-126 clutch lever for a decent price, I need it. The one I had in my cart on rock auto disappeared and now I cant find any.
