I think someone that has owned an idi that long is used to Diesel nock. If he is hearing something is wrong like a real miss or nock then it’s injectors especially with that mileage there’s no chance those injectors are popping at anywhere close to the same pressure

It is god awful. It sounds like the piston isn'teven there and the connecting rod is just slapping the cylinder wall.

210000 miles is a lot for original injectors. Way too much. They have served you well, but I think it's time to retire them and replace with new. Old injectors will cause a knock. Now wait for others to reply.

My Dad's 1986 Ford F-250 6.9L still has original injectors I believe, and it has about 378,000 miles.
