When you order a medium duty truck, you can "pick your adventure" as far as engine/trans go. So.. they standardized bell patterns.
SAE 2 and 3 were the most common medium duty patterns. The back of the IDI is SAE2, as is the DT. Why? IH motors, they got swipped and swapped. Ford then put on an adapter, that uses the bulk of the SAE 2 holes, and adds two large "big Block" pattern holes.
Thanks for the drawing very discriptive, so does that mean that the 5 speed will mount right up, or would I still need an adapter of some sort.
