Erratic Vacuum Cruise

I seem to be developing a problem with the cruise control getting eratic on the Moosestang. It will pur along on a flat, and suddenly accerate or decelerate about 5mph, and then return with no ryme or reason. I suspect the VSS may be going bad. Can anybody confirm this? This would be the system used from 80 to 91.

Mel,

You might want to see if you can lube the pull cable for the throttle. A lube like bike cable lube that is graphite and very thin run down the cable might help if the cable is sticky. Also check for kinks or sharp bends.

I used a little (2-3drops) of 00 grease in my VSS. It helped a lot.

I would start by checking the lines for leaks. A hand held vacuum pump will make that a lot easier.
