Now I know Goofy will sport wood when he reads this.......But - I was offered a 94 F250 4x4 with a 7.3IDI-T/5spd for $700 by a friend of mine....The truck is rusty but the drivetrain is supposed to be good 300,000KM or close to that....I'm interested in the ZF as a spare for my F350, I'm not sure if I would bother with the turbo gear for my 6.9 or not....I haven't decided on wether to buy it or not, I was looking for opinions from you feller's.......I suppose I could freshen the 7.3T and set it in the F350 to perk the truck up, the 6.9 runs good but it's no powerhouse when I'm grossing 15,000lbs loaded....I'm still rolling the Cummins swap around in my head seeing as I already have one looking for a home.

the best deals are the ones that fly under the radar.
that way there's less of a chance a buyer gets butthurt when I'm selling off parts from a truck.

Told ya........I tried to call him yesterday to close the deal but he was off for the weekend....I'm off this week so I may go take a look at it....I know I can make some dough on it but it will be some time before I can strip it down to recoupe my dough....I'd like to hear it run, it may end up in the F350 if it runs good and the turbo is tight.

I'm going to see him about this truck tommorow to see if we can reach a deal on it....I would like to see it first though before I lay out $700 for something that could have a bad turbo. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with it but I need to come out of the deal with the trans and engine and all my $700 back in selling the rest of the truck in parts....We'll see what the Ford gods say in the morning........If I can get it running for a health check and the turbo is tight, I might (I use that term loosely) swap it for the 6.9 in my dually to try and get a little more power...Otherwise I will likely use it to finance my Cummins swap parts to get some real power.

I'd stick with the 6.9 over the 7.3 I lost a 7.3 to cavitation it sucked. There isn't any noticeable diffrence between the 6.9 with the turbo IP and injectors off the 7.3 and the 7.3 when it was healthy except the turbo whistle at low speeds doesn't sound the same but I think I have an exaust or boost leak from something when I put it together.

My 6.9 is too tired to have boost shoved through it, it uses some oil now although you don't see any blue through the tailpipe. The turbo engine has bigger wrist pins as well to handle the strain.
