    Finally bought one!

All gauges hooked up. Just got done with a 30 mile test drive through some pretty hilly terrain. Probably the wastegate is set for 5PSI, even pulling a very very steep back road with foot on floor can't pass it. Highest EGT I saw was 800 or so. Trans stayed around 160. The only way...

    Finally bought one!

I said screw it and drilled the holes last night. Hooked up the boost first, it was easiest. 5 PSI, almost ready to make a few adjustments.

Yeah, I'm undecided right now. The quad would be nice, but I'm not completely sold on the a pillar mount. I figure I'll drive around for a few days with the gauges sitting where they are and see how I like it.

Just a quick update. Been way too busy with work to do much with the truck but drive it. Removed the oil pressure sender and went back to factory set up. Added a mechanical gauge under the dash. Just didn't like the way the factory gauge acted. Ready to install boost, pyro and trans...

    Finally bought one!

Little update on my progress. Installed a real sender in place of the oil pressure switch, and bypassed resistor on back of panel. Checked pressure with a known good working gauge, 40psi with engine at about 140-150 degrees. It had cooled off for a while. Seems to be working...

Thanks for the tips, I'm very familiar with the widths, didnt' even think of the tone ring... There are several on craigslist, can pick one up for couple hundred bucks, 3.73. I sold one out of a chevy a while back, pretty much at scrap price. The more I think about it, the...

    Finally bought one!

I'm still researching coolant. SCA tests ok. I kind of want to run CAT EC-1 with new o-rings in oil cooler. A coolant filter is something I've thought about, will probably add it when I switch to EC-1 (IF I switch...) Electric cooling fans are another item on my short list. I've been...

Tomorrow's adventure. The PO had glow plugs, a controller and harness installed, but the glow plugs are definitely NOT Motorcraft, so I'm going to swap them out while I still can. While I'm at it I'll remove the old harness, which they left in place, going to look at moving the glow...

    Finally bought one!

If it's ok with everyone, I think I'll just use this thread to log my progress with this truck. Changing the oil in the rear axle was kind of a priority. It was dry but had evidence of past significant leakage. didn't grab a pic of the cover mounted, but here it is off the truck. I...

The Official "Show Us Your Ride" pictures of member's trucks thread.

I've had it a little over a week. First diesel I've owned. :D

The amp came with the premium sound system. It still works, but with an aftermarket head unit it's easier just to hook them up direct. Sounds better too. Will have the bumper tomorrow. I don't have one at all right now. LMC lists the same bumper from 80-96 so I hope it fits...

    Finally bought one!

I've got to make dropping the tanks a priority. On the front tank I will not be able to restart if I have less than 2/3 a tank and park in my drive way, which has a decent slope to it. Good news is it only took a couple minutes to prime it. Picking up a clean rear bumper from an 89...

I do want to put an electric pump on. I was mistaken before. It was a solenoid valve that I thought was a fuel pump. It had a complete Greasecar kit on it that was unhooked from everything. 2 solenoid valves, filter with coolant wrap heater, and control box. Thanks for the...

Topped off the tank, about 15.25 mpg on my daily commute to work. 9 miles each way. It has 4.10's. I'm happy, the whole point of getting this truck was to save on fuel over my 99 chevy with 454. It's doing that easily.

Thanks everyone for the help. I'm sure the pickups are broke. Checked the filter, it was not full with diesel. Put 12 gallons of diesel in it, cracked the injector lines, pulled cold advance solenoid wire (read that helps speed up priming, idk) and cranked for about 10 seconds...

Got it home on a tow truck. Thank God for AAA. It was right around 1/4 tank. Im sure it's just not getting fuel. I'll mess with it after work tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions. On a side note, it has an electric pump and a fuel heat exchanger. Hopefully whoever was...

    Finally bought one!

I guess I chose poorly. Broke down on way home. Stopped to get food. Restarted. Ran for a few seconds then died. Won't restart. I know it's fuel but I have zero tools to do anything. Im guessing lift pump or broken pickup. I guess is part of the adventure of buying an old...

Very nice. Probably not too many pickup trucks had tv's when it was new! Riverside, just a short drive away, as long as you're going the opposite direction of traffic, lol.

I'll check it out. I am pretty sure the Roll A Long package is not done at the factory though, so who knows. The seats are similar but more plush than factory seats. Probably done at a van conversion company or something.
