Took the truck on a 300 mile trip today picking up the new trans for the truck. Stole this ZF5-42 for $300, including the flywheel, flexplate, shifter, and even had a PTO bolted on the side.
I’m already looking into a pedal box for the clutch, and am gonna order the hydraulics side of the house...
Found out today that the front tank has been transferring fuel into the rear tank while I drive.
Stopped as the gas station on the way home today and the rear tank only took 19 gallons out of 38. Front, which I haven’t touched took 16.5 gallons. But I did average around 11 mpg when running...
Got an approximate weight on the Ole Girl today at the transfer station. With my buddy, a 1200 lbs utility trailer and I, came in at about 8700lbs, and that was with 50 gallons of fuel onboard. Empty weight of the truck with fuel should be around 7-7100lbs. Not bad for a CCLB Dually.
Also got...
I had to pull the whole mount assembly due to the hardware being seized. I could probably do it now but I wouldn’t. It’s 2 bolts on the back of the trans, the down pipe, and the up pipe and she’s off. From there you can pull it apart on the bench.
Well, truck overheated on me today and knowing I had bad turbo flange bolts, I got it home, thanks to a buddy with a 7.3 PSD and my gooseneck, and tore it all down. One stud was broke by me yesterday, another one today. Found one of the studs didn’t have a nut on it cause a previous owner had...
Not just today, but the last couple of days.
Got gifted a Beans Diesel sump that was sitting on the shelf for too long and figured I’d put it in the 6 month old 38 gallon rear tank I had in my old 85 F250. But in doing so, I had to remove the big chrome bumper with the integrated hitch, gaudy...
Well you've already seen me about a month ago towing my Gramps "old" 86 F150 back to my dad's over in Defuniak.
I am in Crestview, back behind the hospital (they love my vehicle collection :rotflmao), as well and it would be cool to get together with some of yall that're local and talk tech...
Well, got around to bypassing the factory lift pump and installed a Seachoice Dura-lift pump. We have all heard it before so I’ll spare you the details.
My reason to swap it though was the stock lift pump wasn’t keeping up at higher RPMs when getting into it, especially while towing. That and...
Well, it was a blue F150, but with all the algae growing on it I could see grey, but yeah, that was me.
That was my first drive with the truck since I picked it up, non running a week ago.
Definitely cool to see someone local on here!
New here. Recently picked up this 1985 F350, CCLB Dually. 6.9 w/ /Banks turbo, US gear Underdrive, straight and clean. Picked it up non running due to a bad starter and coolant switch. So far so good now that she's going again.
