I’ve got the flowmaster flowFX 71419 on the truck and it’s good. Decent rumble at speed. You can hear it a little but it’s not bad. No drone and more importantly, I can hear myself think. Maybe that’s a bad thing for me but who knows.
The total exhaust length from the factory two bolt flange...
Well kept working through some more old truck woes today. Got to work and found out the truck was spraying fuel from the #3 injector area. Local parts house had an injector return line kit. No dice….
Limped it home and thankfully that core injection pump I got from @Jesus Freak had spare lines...
Well it wasn’t today but the last couple of days.
Got the body swap done this past weekend. Tore the front ends apart and broke loose all the body/bed bolts Friday. Saturday I hauled them up to the horse ranch and used the tractor to swap the cabs. Made sure to run the IDI off a single battery...
Yeah, it’s taped up there right now to see how I like it on the truck right now. It’s definitely growing but not sure I wanna swap it right away for the Lund visor.
Finally got a picture of the three, yes, three running bullnoses I have.
Blue is an 84 single cab IDI F250.
Black is an 85 Crew Cab dually IDI F350
Red is an 85 single cab with a 351W f250
Soon the body from the red F250 will be transplanted onto the Blue trucks frame and running gear to...
Didn’t think to get pictures but I picked up an injection pump from @Jesus Freak the other day and dropped it into my (wife’s) dually. Turns out that it did just need good fuel and a good tuned pump to run right with that turbo.
Hopefully here soon I’ll have TWO running IDIs that are registered.
Well, after a long hiatus, I finally bought back my old 85 turbo IDI bullnose but for my wife. And then picked up an 84 single cab NA IDI for myself to work on as a project. Got a “spare” injection pump into the 84 and took it around the block today. Definitely needs work but it’s a start for a...
Took the truck on a 300 mile trip today picking up the new trans for the truck. Stole this ZF5-42 for $300, including the flywheel, flexplate, shifter, and even had a PTO bolted on the side.
I’m already looking into a pedal box for the clutch, and am gonna order the hydraulics side of the house...
Found out today that the front tank has been transferring fuel into the rear tank while I drive.
Stopped as the gas station on the way home today and the rear tank only took 19 gallons out of 38. Front, which I haven’t touched took 16.5 gallons. But I did average around 11 mpg when running...
Got an approximate weight on the Ole Girl today at the transfer station. With my buddy, a 1200 lbs utility trailer and I, came in at about 8700lbs, and that was with 50 gallons of fuel onboard. Empty weight of the truck with fuel should be around 7-7100lbs. Not bad for a CCLB Dually.
Also got...
I had to pull the whole mount assembly due to the hardware being seized. I could probably do it now but I wouldn’t. It’s 2 bolts on the back of the trans, the down pipe, and the up pipe and she’s off. From there you can pull it apart on the bench.
Well, truck overheated on me today and knowing I had bad turbo flange bolts, I got it home, thanks to a buddy with a 7.3 PSD and my gooseneck, and tore it all down. One stud was broke by me yesterday, another one today. Found one of the studs didn’t have a nut on it cause a previous owner had...
Not just today, but the last couple of days.
Got gifted a Beans Diesel sump that was sitting on the shelf for too long and figured I’d put it in the 6 month old 38 gallon rear tank I had in my old 85 F250. But in doing so, I had to remove the big chrome bumper with the integrated hitch, gaudy...
Well you've already seen me about a month ago towing my Gramps "old" 86 F150 back to my dad's over in Defuniak.
I am in Crestview, back behind the hospital (they love my vehicle collection :rotflmao), as well and it would be cool to get together with some of yall that're local and talk tech...
Well, got around to bypassing the factory lift pump and installed a Seachoice Dura-lift pump. We have all heard it before so I’ll spare you the details.
My reason to swap it though was the stock lift pump wasn’t keeping up at higher RPMs when getting into it, especially while towing. That and...
Well, it was a blue F150, but with all the algae growing on it I could see grey, but yeah, that was me.
That was my first drive with the truck since I picked it up, non running a week ago.
Definitely cool to see someone local on here!
New here. Recently picked up this 1985 F350, CCLB Dually. 6.9 w/ /Banks turbo, US gear Underdrive, straight and clean. Picked it up non running due to a bad starter and coolant switch. So far so good now that she's going again.
