No fuel to injectors, IP full

Hey y'all, FINALLY found a replacement 6.9 for my 87 after about a year so I'm stoked to get this ol' rig moving again. Engines in, trans is mounted, ready to go, and I have no fuel at my injectors when I go to bleed the air out. Getting fuel from the tank to the pump, filter is full, and IP is...

    Need help identifying a knock

Gets louder with RPM, doesn't go away. Engine is vibrating but that may be due to my flywheel. Smoke is light white while cranking and black afterwards. Had just put a fresh fuel filter in the truck, I mean like maybe 30 miles. I was driving it back from work and about a quarter mile from my...

    Need help identifying a knock

Knock was Heard before, that's honestly the main reason I decided to pull my trans. I thought it was something related to my gears. It's not a used flywheel, it's a fresh one from summit for a 7.3 and I think the 7.3 may have different balancing. No play.

Any good way to see that without pulling the balancer off? I'd sincerely doubt it's that, but it wouldn't hurt to check

    Need help identifying a knock

Engine mounts are brand new, put them in like 2 weeks ago. Turbo piping clears by a hair to the cab, and clears the trans fine. I've had the turbo kid in for a while with the piping in the same spot near the cab with no issues.

It started just before. That's originally why I did the trans swap, it I thought the clutch / trans gears had gone

    Need help identifying a knock

That's what I thought, I've been running it for about 9 months without any issues. My thought was maybe something could be gummed up and causing fuel knock.

Tried that, no change. Did seem to be contacting by a hair, but not the source.

    Need help identifying a knock

Hey y'all. Finished a ZF-5 installation a little bit ago and went to go test drive the truck. Engine's knocking, hard. I was hoping it was fuel knock, so I cracked all the injectors; to no avail. I run WMO, so I'm hoping its something gummed up; but I want to see what y'all think. Could be...

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

Yeah, gets worse with speed; but it's still pretty rank at idle

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

My original transmission that was in here was also solid flywheel, I know they make noise. This isn't noise. This is shaking. It feels like it's going to throw the trim off of the radio bezel.

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

All right, so the shifter ordeal is solved. But the sh*t soup keeps getting thicker. Fired her up to get it moving, and that thing rattles like it's trying to disassemble itself. My guess is the flywheel that I used in the conversion has 7.3 weights on it (Flywheel is for a 90 so all the clutch...

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

Gave mine the old toaster treatment with an oxyacetylene and reshaped it a little bit. It's in the right spot for now, but will likely look into a correct one in the future. Not 100% sure why it would be bent like that at all, unless maybe it was in a swamp buggy at some point.

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

All right, pulled the shifter itself out of the top of the trans and it looks very different from the one pictured above. The ring for the boot to sit on is much higher up, and the shaft almost seems longer. See a part number on it too but I can't make it out perfectly. Looks like ZF 1308 305...

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

Mine is a two-wheel drive trans out of a 89 f450. I've honestly never seen a tower bet like that before. Would it be worth popping it out heating it up and bending it in the other direction? Or should I just go buy one that's right?

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

Yeah, the ridge faces the driver's side. I know how it's supposed to go, but I'm not to sure how I'd do it. If it is aftermarket/custom it's a pretty decent job. I don't see any cut or weld marks anywhere in the entire shaft. Here's how it looks with the stick attached in neutral

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

That's what I thought, every one I've ever seen seems to bend the other way. But again, popping the shifter out of the neck spinning it around and putting it back in just makes the shifter bend forward.

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

This is what I'm working, if I flip it put it the other way it just shoves it further forward

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

UPDATE: that bad boy is in. Been fighting it for 3 days, but it's in. Thank y'all for the guidance. On a slightly different note, now I'm on to the shifter. The shifter that came with my trans only fits two ways. One way would go through my firewall, and the other hits the dash in 1, 3, and 5...

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

That work way better than I thought it would. I finally bit the bullet and took the transmission back up, and decided to pull the clutch assembly off the flywheel while I had it off. Surprise surprise, the input alignment tool didn't fit in immediately. So my clutch alignment was off. I put the...
