That's good information to have about the harness. Wow that is some kind of special going on in that door! Previous owner must have been one of those craigslist professional carpenters. I hate going back behind thoes people to fix things they have "fixed".
If the truck is cranking good(that is subject to these trucks as they actually have to turn over strangely fast) I would put the know good battery on the passenger side and hook a running truck or jump box to it and give the truck a shot of either (assuming you have glow plugs disconnected) and...
I haven't made it back over to my parts truck as I had planned. But I should be able to get to it tomorrow or the next day and I will get some measurements and pictures of the transfer case opening. Just didn't want you to think I forgot.
I will check the spot welds and see if they line up. When I was looking at panels I was looking at raybucks because I read in a restoration page somewhere that their panels were thinner and closer to factory. I don't know if that is true as I haven't had dealings with either company. But at the...
I drove mine for the firstime for any distance. Only ever been around the block a couple times while I was fighting the stalling between gears issue. After a fuel system flush it now doesn't stall. So I drove it 5 miles from my dads house to mine so I can start cutting the rusted floor sections out.
Whatever it is I would bet it shouldn't be there. Perhaps a problem with a piece of production machinery caused that contamination. If I put that oil in my truck I would be taking it right back out and flushing to get as much out as I could. In my experience if their is a addictive that settles...
Yeah I know that may be a possibility. I was planning on testing one of the door panels yesterday but then I ran into fairly bad rust in the floorboards in my 90. I will be pulling a door panel and testing the closure of the door before I go through the trouble of swapping everything.
I haven't started cutting the floors out of the two trucks yet. But I am wondering and looking for advice from those who have replaced floors. How difficult will it be to remove the floor sections from the 93 parts truck? I know there is a stiffener that runs down each side and the floor is spot...
Well that's good news. I have been sidetracked by the rust in my floorboards. So now I am cutting floorboard sections out before I get back to the interior swap. But I hope the 1993 is similar to the 90 to remove that harness.
This is true for the inside. I worry more about the outside of the lap and road moisture getting in and rusting between the panels. But I guess after I weld it I can prim and use steam sealer and then paint. Then I at least have a couple layers of protection.
when welding the floor boards in I have see people butt weld them and then people who over lap the panels by 1/2" to 1" and weld top and bottom. Who has done these and what do you like? The overlap sounds like it would add strength but it could also add a water trap that could rust again.
I know it isn't as bad as some of the trucks on this coast are. I can weld it and would do that before riveting. I had thought about doing fiberglass but I know lots of people have strong opinions about fiberglass belonging on boats only. My only concern with fiberglass is in a side impact...
Well I wanted to swap out the interior of my 1990 f350 and figured I could get it done with a few days that I had off. But Mr. Murphy decided to show up and destroy that plan. When I removed the rubber floor mat I found more rust that I would have cared to ever seen on a vehicle I planned on...
Do you know if the whole dash has to come out to remove the harness? I wasn't planning on pulling either dash because it is a pain. I had Allred wondered about door closure with the different door panels, will pull one today and install in the 90 to see if it closes before I go any further.
I don't necessarily want the power windows and locks. But my door panels need to be replaced and the parts truck has perfect door panels, but it has power windows and locks.
I did a fuel system cleaning yesterday. I disconnected the fuel supply and return lines and put then into a 5 gallon bucket. I put a 1/2 gallon of power service cleaner into the bucket and then added a 1/2 gallon of fresh diesel and let the truck run on that mixture for about 3 hours till the...
I picked up a parts truck for the seats and the whole interior is in good shape and I was considering swapping everything but the dash. My truck has Manuel windows and locks but the parts truck is power windows and locks. Can the power windows and locks be swapped to the manual truck? How much...
I fought my ZF5 for what seemed like forever and then ended up picking up on the front of the engine to change the angle and then I was able to get it to go. If it isn't going just recheck your angles. Good luck.
Well it has been a long time but I finally got a little bit of time to work on the fuel system. And this is what I got put together. I used a bypass regulator and connected the bypass to a tee that I attached to the return line coming off the top of the IP. I have the pressure gauge at the line...
I say it to everyone when I am out and about this time of year. I also don't care about what others think I should be doing. I do what I want and what I know to be right.
Merry Christmas to you all. Thanks for all the help this past year. Hope the holiday and the new year are great for you and...
