Ok gang I know I’ll probably get shade for this but given financial situations it seems cheaper I had a 92 7.3 idi that hydro locked on me ripped the engine out and the block turned out to be no good now my question is I can get a 5.8 same year what all is needed to put the gasser in the diesel...- Travis Skavenski

What numbers would I be trying to look for and how do I determine if it’s valve or rod or is that basically down to tearing into it and finding out that way- Travis Skavenski

When we had all that rain my truck was pointed down hill a small grade I got in it made I believe 2 rotations then locked up I thought it was the starter so I smacked it a couple times and messed with the key and it fired up that’s when I heard the knock when I had the valve covers off I double...- Travis Skavenski

And the miss makes me scratch my head too because I know the bent rod would make it shake but how would it make it miss I’m a virgin when it comes to diesels- Travis Skavenski

It smokes lightly on take offs then the smoke goes away again and has a miss that you can forsure feel would a connecting rod being just bent cause this- Travis Skavenski

The tapping goes along with the rpms couldn’t a bent valve be a culprit as well- Travis Skavenski

No it doesn’t go away I could only afford 4 at a time baby on the way trying to save some money for that as well- Travis Skavenski

Yes all the push rods roll straight and there’s no abnormal wear on the rockers either- Travis Skavenski

Side note I did replace 4 out of 8 injectors because they were covered in fuel and 1 was covered in oil- Travis Skavenski

92 7.3 n/a So after a month of scratching my head being told it’s hydrolock or maybe a bad injector I still can’t find the source the problem at first start up it shakes has a tap and smokes a whiteish blue almost as if it’s burning a quart of oil on the initial start up (oil level reads fine...- Travis Skavenski

So I pulled the valve covers and no broken springs and the rockers are tight the push rods are in their respective places but some of them are cocked to the side. I’m gonna take the rockers off and pull the rods to see if any are bent it’s starting to lean more towards bottom end which confuses...- Travis Skavenski

If the damage isn’t to extreme I’m gonna look into a rebuild kit. But in the mean time no daily for now and if I do grab another one it will be an idi- Travis Skavenski
