The Official LUK 07-225 SMF Clutch Kit & ZF S5-42/47 Rollover Noise Poll

If I could get a DMF at a reasonable price I would have. Seeing that one was not available, the SMF worked just fine for me. The noise is annoying but you get used to it quickly.

    Supercapacitor/Ultracapacitor starting bank

I'm wondering how this will work when you run out of fuel and need to crank for 45 seconds (in bursts) to re-prime the system. Or how bout your alternator fails on a road trip and you need to keep going for three hours to get home. Or you leave the headlights on for 30 mins while you go in...

    Project Truck - 89' F250

Unfortunately, due to lack of recent use, probably going to list this truck for sale in the next few weeks.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Mine had a T connector already installed up behind the rear bumper with a 4 flat. Might have been factory, not sure. Looks kinda like this: https://www.carid.com/tekonsha/t-one-connector-mpn-118316.html?singleid=2362300645&url=3177981 I need to run the rest of the wiring for trailer electric...

So what did you do with your truck today?

New trailer light connector... this thing was about $25 on amazon, comes with the 7 way and 4 prong connector in one unit. Replacing the raggedy, busted 7 way connector that had obviously been smashed three or four times with a trailer tongue.

    Injection pump timing

You will likely need to grind the probe pickup down slightly to fit. Its just a slightly larger diameter than the IDI 's timing port. The timing light will work with no modifications, but I prefer the probe, it seems more accurate and easier to use. I have the same unit.

    Timing Question---Procedure

Mine was 13 degrees BTDC when I first put the meter on it, if yours has never been timed it can certainly be off by that amount.

    Coolant leaking from...somewhere

A leak from the thermostat or upper hose where it clamps to the t-stat housing will show up there.

    Project Truck - 89' F250

Yeah, I know. It makes sense for me though, I have a 5 month old son now and I really need a crew cab. The good news is that I have done quite a bit of soul searching and I can't give the IDI up, put 600 miles on it in the last four days, it sings like a bird. Also, my son loves the IDI...

    Project Truck - 89' F250

This one is going on the back burner for a little bit :( Got a new project....Buying my Father In Law's LBZ crew cab duramax. Interior is pretty rough, the exterior is beat up in a few places, but it is rust free and no major mechanical issues, and the price is right. I'm probably going to...

    Power steering noise?

Bump, what fluid you guys running? Ford Type F? just picked up my fluid extractor from the boat and planning to replace whatever is in the power steering reservoir, no problems but it looks gross

    Resonator or Muffler?

Eh it will be fine as long as im above 75! Seriously the truck is much, much quieter at 80mph than it is at 70. Not exactly sure what I am going to do with it yet. Maybe just swap the glasspack out for a turbo muffler. For now the plan is to just drive real fast

    Blueish white smoke when accelerating

I have one of these as well. Yep you'll have to grind down the magnetic pickup to get it to fit. I used a bench grinder and fine sandpaper to remove any burrs.

    Resonator or Muffler?

4" should entirely change the volume and resonance compared to my 3" so that could explain it.

    Resonator or Muffler?

Well after lots of driving and thinking about it I determined it was an exhaust drone. I drive this truck on the interstate almost every day for about an hour (commuting). Its pretty wild how it resonates just right in the back of the cab, like I said if I lean my head forward over the steering...

Ex Wife- my LONG term build

I looked back and that price was for a full rebuild, master install kit, gears + wheel seals.

Ex Wife- my LONG term build

FWIW, the quote I got from a local high-volume axle shop to re-gear the 10.25 rear from 4.10 to 3.55 on my truck was roughly $800 out the door.

Which antifreeze? Changing to Aluminum radiator

I recently switched from green to peak final charge. Available for about $12/gal at wal-mart. Working fine in my champion 3 row. No more concerns about test strips or SCA's. Pull the two drain plugs in the block, fill with distilled water, drive around until its warm, pull both drain plugs in...

    Heat

So you can visually see the cable moving the blend door, you get good airflow from the vents when on cold, but when you move from cold to hot the (volume/speed/whatever) goes way down? Sounds like debris blocking the heater core, as others have suggested.

Clogged fuel return line - rear tank

Yep.. also managed to drain all the fuel out of it, so its 100% empty now, might get some motivation to drop it soon. I've taken a lot of diesel to the face recently but I have a new sender in my front tank and the rear is not far behind!

Clogged fuel return line - rear tank

Well I found the problem. The pickup/sender is not the correct one for the rear tank, the lines come out at completely different angles from your pic and the hard plastic lines have to make quite a bend with no room to do it against the bottom of the bed. it almost looks like it a front tank...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Wal-Mart had group 65 850CCA batteries on sale for $88ea, so I bought two and just put them in the IDI. Feel good about that investment now that my alternator is putting out a full 14.6v. Truck came with Group 34 800cca optima red-tops that started just fine but were too small for the tray...

Clogged fuel return line - rear tank

Thanks for the pic, big help, its closer than I thought to the frame rail there, might be a way I can get in there and work on it. I think the sender is functional, so if I can just get the clog fixed then i'll have a fully functional rear tank regarding dropping the tank, how difficult will...

Oil in fuel with a knock.

Cavitation is a hole in the side of a cylinder. Symptoms - anything from a hydrolocked engine to a tendency to overheat and exhaust gasses in the coolant. One thing at a time... maybe the knock is just a noisy valvetrain from a lack of lubrication with severely diluted engine oil. Change the...
