I had a 2011 tdi 6 speed with the same issue. It was not the transmission, but the alignment of the shifter that was preventing me from getting into gear. 1st and reverse was my issue if I remember correctly. Water Leak Into Cab
I had the same issue on my 89, leaking windshield. A little windshield sealant worked like a charm, nothing for the last year, easy to apply- Jefff27

direct replacement fuel switch valve!!
