    Loosing prime overnight

so the problem is getting worse, but i am no closer to finding root cause. i have not been able to find any leaks yet. with this warmer weather it seems to be making the problem more frequent. The fuel tank seems to be getting pressurized quite a bit, seems to trend with the warmer...

    Loosing prime overnight

I pressurozed the tank a little, and could not find any leaks yet. Wondering if it could be a bad injector too. Ive got 175k mi on the origional injectores... do they wear out? I know the spyay pattern can be checked, but can an injector develop a leak to the return line? and leak in...

    Loosing prime overnight

Does anyone have any ideas? 92 cummins... looses prime overnight now. I have to manually pump the lift pump about 30 times to get it to fire these days.. I was told this could be an air leak in the return line? Does his make sence? Is the return line submerged in the tank? I was...

Fan Belt jumping on AC compressor

Turned out to be the tensioner.... wierd, the bearings felt fine.

What year Cummins should i buy???

I could easily make the payment on a brand new one, or pay cash, but i hate the idea of spending such a huge amount of money for something that will depriciate so fast. The thing i like about the ol'92 is that it is pretty much not going to loose any more value than it has already. I know...

    front axle fix

Yes the yoke will slide off when you remove the pinon nut, That is a good way of swapping the seal, but swapping the bearing is a bigger deal, I think you can usually get away with swapping the bearing but be careful. Technically the gears are setup with a specific bearing preload for both...

Fan Belt jumping on AC compressor

It seems like moving the spacer fixed the problem... but that is just too weird. It is on the edge of the belt leading into the crank pully, but does not actually touch the belt when it is running. The problem happens right at startup too, so i would only expect extra tension on the belt when...

    Onboard Air???

I agree, that air brake compressor setup would be WAY cleaner than any possible add ons on a cummins.

    Onboard Air???

York compressors are great, and usually only cost about $10 at a swap meet. About 10 CFM@100psi, Yorks do not require oiling on the air inlet, like many AC pumps do. I have seen what i think 82fordtruck is talking about on a 4bt. you can get a true air compressor(not a converted AC pump)...

What year Cummins should i buy???

Ok, I have my good old '92 cummins at about 200k miles, but it is getting old and tired, and a little too unreliable. All the dodge parts are falling apart, or have been replaced, but the cummins is holding strong. I need a new(er) truck, but i cannot decide what to get. With it...

Fan Belt jumping on AC compressor

I finally did my KDP mainenance with the timing cover off. Put it back together, and a couple weeks later my fan belt torr off one of the ribs and jumped a groove one all the accessories. I got a new belt, a goodyear gatorback, and when i put it on, it continually jumps 1/2 of a groove...

    91 Dodge Cummins Heater

I had a thermostat that was stuck open about 5 years ago. I didnt notice it until it was winter time and the heater didnt work worth a damn. The gauge would show that it was in a normal temp range, but at the colder end of the spectrum. I threw a new stat in it and it was incredible. Temps...

    Locker rear end

I totally prefer driving a locker on the street as well. Much more traction. Before the locker i couldnt lift the clutch without laying down a single legger in the rain, let alone in the snow. They need lots of respect on the corners, and the occasional locker pop can get exciting...

Where to find a good 4BT

I have been searching for a good 4BT motor for my rock crawler. I think i want one out of a bread van, with all the accessories, bell housing, GM style clutch and adapters, ect. Anyone know know of a good place to look? Got one laying around?

    diesel wheeling

dont get water in the fuel tank.... thats a big no no with diesels, but gassers dont care much about. Just like everybody else said, dont intake water either. gas or diesel it iwill be a problem, but remember that the diesels have a much higher compression ratio than a gasser, so the...

    GETRAG 5-SPEED

Yes, same disk and pilot, almost, while you are in there you probably want to change both anyways., The only differance in interface it that the stock first gen clutch disk has a longer spline interface on it, and reaches a little deeper towards the transmission, This would interfere with...

    WHAT IS K.D.P.

In my opinion, dont use the jig.... it is too easy to just pull the front timing cover and do it right. I got lucky. I pulled the cover last week, to finally do my KDP maintenance, and when i did the pin fell out, it was shaved down on one side to about 70% of its origional diameter, and...

    GETRAG 5-SPEED

I would suggest putting an NV4500 in its place. You can probably get the whole thing for about $1500 or so. All you need custom is the advance adapters bell housing, and a simple custom tranny mount adapter that they make also. I did the swap on mine.
