Hi - haven't been here for quite a while - my 93 NA 7.3 has been running great for a few years. Not now. last week - fired right up but no tach. reverse was fine. Put it into drive, and it only had fourth gear. O/D light on. Put it in first - but it was in second. drive off in second...- bigfoot

Truck died and will not restart
i am facing a similar issue right now - good gp's, fuel at schrader. no fire, no smoke at tail pipe. talked with Conestoga. last night i did what they suggested - pulled the governor cover (top cover) off the IP. Checked the FSS by jumping directly to the battery. seemed to be good there...- bigfoot

no go. help please
When it loses power, shutting it off and immediately restarting it eliminates the problem. it runs fine for a while, a few miles or more. today i drove it 35 miles without a problem. fuel filter is almost new. lots of fuel at the schrader valve. I'll check the facet pump reservoir, and...- bigfoot

no go. help please
the background: I needed a money pit, so four years ago bought a 93' NA E40d 2wd. 129K on it now. Replaced just about everything - IP, injectors, installed facet duralift, return kit, tranny, radiator, water pump, hoses, front end, on and on. Timed by local guy thanks to the timing...- bigfoot

HELP!!! O/D light dim and stays on, afraid in limp mode
Is the OD light always on, or is it always flashing? Flashing means limp mode. read the tech article about the FIPL. I just bought a replacement from the dealer, about $70. but before you buy a replacement, check yours for proper voltage. Next, check your vehicle speed sensor. not sure...- bigfoot

why do you drive a idi?
I bought an idi because i wanted an affordable truck that could haul a camper over the mountain passes, while running biodiesel made from waste cooking oil. My idi seems to love it, and the hills are really no problem. I will keep the idi because OBN is a great site, full of good...- bigfoot

hard start when cold
I think the IP is still good - no problems on long summer trips over mountain passes with the camper on. Lots of power, and hot starts are perfect. But I do plan to put a new IP on next year. How do i check the timing advance? I am also suspicious of the GP harness. Power to each GP -...- bigfoot

hard start when cold
Hi everyone - been lurking for three years, finally posting a question. i have a 93 na with 121k. been a great truck. now it's cranking a LONG TIME before finally starting, even with the temps in the 60's.
