Ordered the license plates for E3 today

Arkansas is pretty cool about it. I have an antique plate on my '84; I never have to pay another yearly registration fee again. All I have to do is keep insurance on it. Technically I'm not supposed to drive it more than my "regular" vehicle, but there are no checks on it.

HF 1/2" Hammer drill will NOT power a SBC pumped centrifuge...

Thanks for the info. I'm really trying to get running on the cheap, so I'm trying to make this setup work with stuff I have on hand. I have a couple of GM saginaw PS pumps from my chevy days, and those will supply the pressure needed but can't be run dry without ruining them. They won't pull...

HF 1/2" Hammer drill will NOT power a SBC pumped centrifuge...

OK, strike three on the SBC pumped centrifuge. I stopped by the local hardware store and picked up a 4" diameter, 1/2" bore sheave (pulley) and mounted it on the SBC oil pump. I then connected it to my table saw motor via a belt. It ended up being about a 3:1 reduction in speed from motor...

HF 1/2" Hammer drill will NOT power a SBC pumped centrifuge...

I have one. That's how I know the flow was so high. I had the bypass about half closed when the SBC pump was making 100psi. The flow coming from the bypass was really impressive.

HF 1/2" Hammer drill will NOT power a SBC pumped centrifuge...

Yeah, I'm figuring that out. The SBC pump was delivering TONS of volume for that three minutes. I hooked up my table saw motor direct drive style to the SBC pump this afternoon and it tripped the overload almost immediately. I'll give this SBC pump more try; I'll get a big pulley/sheave to...

HF 1/2" Hammer drill will NOT power a SBC pumped centrifuge...

Smoked it after about three minutes. It worked fine for transferring oil from one drum to another, but not when I hooked it up to the 'fuge. It ran that SBC pump up to 100psi line pressure like a champ, though. Then RPMs dropped down and I smelled the stink and saw the smoke. Done... Good...

WMO two tank system return line routing idea?

Well, you all just changed my mind for me. Now that the weather has warmed up, I'll just run it single tank for now. I'll cross that two-tank bridge if I ever start to have cold-related starting troubles. Thanks.

WMO two tank system return line routing idea?

The two tank system would be for winter driving. It dips down into the teens pretty often in the winter. Just trying to cover all my bases.

What to check first? Starting issue...

I tried to search and got 13000 results, so I thought it would be quicker just to ask again, even though this question may have been asked already. About half the time I go out to start the truck, the following happens. Hot or cold, sitting for 15 minutes or 5 days. The starter will kick...

WMO two tank system return line routing idea?

So, my plan is to run #2 diesel in the front tank and W85 in the rear tank. FSV is inop so I'm going with manual valves. I only plan to use the #2 for startup and shutdown. I would use a 3 way ball valve for changing the feed line from one tank to the other, but is there any reason I couldn't...

NEED some measurements for 38 Gal rear tank please??

It's double the capacity of the normal rear tank, and it looks like it is twice as "thick" as the stock tank, so measure the "thickness" of your 19 gallon stock rear and double it?

Long or Short valve stem seals on 6.9?

I did a search but couldn't find an answer. I bought a set of "long" valve stem seals for my 6.9. On both the o'reilly and rockauto websites they had both long and short listings for the 6.9. When I received them in the mail, I looked at the back of the box and they have only a 7.3 listed...

why does my truck burn oil?

Ok, so basically the gas motor equivalent is a PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve. Thanks!

why does my truck burn oil?

I have a '84 6.9 that I think has bad valve stem seals. What is this CDR that you're all talking about, and how do I check it to see if it's bad? Thanks for helping a newbie.

    Tires: Bias/steel side wall/radial/steer/traction/all terrain/etc?

I kinda doubt bias ply tires are high speed tires, given the info below. It comes from the Goodyear Europe website. "Here is a list of rating indicators and their speed equivalents. Unmarked radial tires are allowed up to a speed of 110 km/h (68 mph). Bias ply tires are confined to 100 km/h...

    Tires: Bias/steel side wall/radial/steer/traction/all terrain/etc?

The tire world has changed drastically in the past 10 years. My best friend owns a tire/lube shop. Bias are a thing of the past except for some trailer applications and huge mud tires. Their one main benefit (cost) has disappeared since production quantity is so low. Tires are cheaper when...

My first WMO collection experience, or better, Newbie makes a mess, parts 1, 2, and 3

So, I make my first trip to collect some waste oil for my WMO setup. My best friend has a tire and lube shop, so I have about 100 gallons a week available if I ever needed that much. I was very much unprepared for the experience. Things I learned: 1. SBC pumps that have been converted into...

Just received my centrifuge in the mail!

It's just the small 55gph one from PABiodieselsupply, but it's here and I now have to get busy finalizing my plans for the WMO setup. I'm thinking about doing it as follows (I'd love to have some input): Barrel 1: Upflow filter setup. 55gal with 10 gal "funnel" on top, like has been...

Why has new member registration been disabled?

I used the "contact us" link at the bottom of the main page. I made sure to include my email address. They replied the next day and asked what name I wanted.

Why has new member registration been disabled?

The board was getting spammed. I had to PM a mod to get mine set up. They got it done quick, too.

Why we stress using Motocraft glow plugs

Well, I just wanted you to know that your efforts on steering folks the right way have not been wasted. I almost bought a set of champions when rockauto had them on clearance for $2.50 each, but after reading all the reports, I stepped up and bought a set of berus, even though I'm a self...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Pulled the hydroplane slicks off the '84 and replaced with some 75% H1 hummer tires on rear and almost new 235/85/16 M&S on front. Now it has a decidedly noticeable rake, but hey, I already had the tires. Also found enough pipe in my dad's junk pile to fab up some exhaust. P.O. cut off the...

Newbie introduction - Bought '83 F250 and broke down on the way home

Rob, thanks for the offer. I make take you up on that some day. I sent the guy a text asking for more info about the rebuilt IP, and I'll let you know what he says. From what I remember of the conversation, the IP came from a local parts house. He claimed that he paid $600 for it. He hasn't...

Newbie introduction - Bought '83 F250 and broke down on the way home

Fixed!! That little side cover gasket was the issue (so far, at least). The super genius, knows everything about everything parts guy in town was able able to get me a pair of gaskets. $3 for gaskets and $7 shipping. The old gasket was almost gooey - it came apart like wet newspaper after...

WMO... Is it really that easy?

Just dump some kerosene and/or RUG into old motor oil, run it through a centrifuge, and put it in the tank? This kinda pegs the "if it seems too good to be true" meter. What are the cons to this process, besides a stinky exhaust and possible additional wear on IP and injectors? I bought my...
