I got the turbo off of the engine today from the wrecking yard. On the air box it did say "Ford", not "ATS". It also had "Turbo Diesel" on each fender above and rear of the wheel well like Fords did in that year. I would bet that it is surely a factory turbo motor. The only number I could...- HiWayMan

Factory 1994 ATS Turbo
I have a chance of getting a 94 factory turbo off of a pickup in a wrecking yard for $250. Sounds like a good deal even if I have to have it rebuilt. I figure it shouldn't be any big deal installing it on my "91" 7.3.. Would appreciate any of your thoughts on this. I'm sure this subject has...- HiWayMan

Aurora 2000 Turbo's for I.D.I's
Evidently ATS in Colorado bought out ATS in Salt Lake. Anyway, the new manufacturers of the ATS Turbo's offer an "Aurora 2000" turbo.. Anyone heard any good/bad reports on these "new" turbo's? Thanks.... Al- HiWayMan

Exhaust fumes when I turn on the heater.

6.9 Engine w/turbo
When I was in a wrecking yard this weekend there was an 86 F-250 with a 6.9 with a non wastegated ATS Turbo. It fired up good (even with one battery). The owner of the yard wanted $ 750 for the complete motor, and he wouldn't sell the turbo separately. I'm curious.. Is that a good price...- HiWayMan

Just got the truck running again.
I just put my rebuilt heads back on the truck and got it running today. Mel's articles on the heads and injection system were a great help (thanks again for writing those articles, Mel). When I put the pump back on I advanced it about 1/16". I don't think the truck has ran this good since it...- HiWayMan
