    2022 Rally

Glad you guys had a good time. Extinuating circumstances kept us away this year. Starting to think about next year already.

    2022 Rally

I am in northern WV this weekend but just couldn’t swing the rally. If anyone needs anything message me. FB message is probably best or get ahold of @pafixitman. He knows how to get me. Sorry that I couldn’t make it but wife and I are already starting to think about a bid for next year. Need to...

Let’s talk about egts and water temp

I love my truck. I spent a lot of time and money to get it to where it is. I’m 85% there. If I could lick this problem, I’m 95% to where I want to be. That last 5% will come later with the next project. I’ve got enough power I just can’t use it all. I’m eyeing a drop to 3.73 gears in the...

Let’s talk about egts and water temp

I have considered it. I’m not a huge fan on these trucks. I also considered some extra vents in the fenders and through the air dam. Spent a little time looking at air/water IC’s. My buddy has a kit he hasn’t used yet. Still have the where to put the Rad issue but I’m trying to think ahead to...

Let’s talk about egts and water temp

Possibly. I also forget that the water cooled turbo is dumping heat in the system too. I wonder if something like this would be enough to do anything as an aux rad...

Let’s talk about egts and water temp

Thanks for the responses. Yes it’s my truck in the Sig. Radiator was a new champion when installed. Typically if I’m pulling hard I’m in 4th turning 2300-2500 rpm. I have very much considered that it still may be an air flow issue as the fan helped but like I said, didn’t quite get me...

Let’s talk about egts and water temp

So I have a pretty well documented issue with water temps. While waiting to get my freeze plug issue resolved I’ve been kicking around a few things in my head. One of them is EGTs. Running a 110 from CDD and with my setup I can manage EGTs pretty well I think. In 4th gear climbing grade, I can...

    ISO freeze plug install tool

These plugs are different. People will tell you you can beat them in with a socket and technically you can if you know what you are doing. I do not and I really don’t enjoy pulling the driveline out to get to them to do it again.

    ISO freeze plug install tool

Need a freeze plug tool. It’s the drivers side plug behind the trans. Rather do this right instead of having to do it again. Willing to buy or rent. Thanks!

    Coolant Leak

Found it!! It really was the most logical explanation. Now the question. How to fix it. Does anyone have a freeze plug install tool they would be either willing to part with or rent/loan out? I think going back stock is probably the most logical thing to do.

    Carrier/facet pump observations

I don’t know why people hate on the facet pumps. I guess they just aren’t running enough of them. No pressure drop issues here. LOL

    Weather stripping on rear slider?

Are you looking for the rubber that holds the window in or the seals on the window glass itself? I bought the seal that holds the window in from LMC. Might try a thin foam tape on the joint where the slider goes if that’s what you are looking for.

    Coolant Leak

So I have developed a coolant leak. I am not 100% sure yet but I think it’s coming from the bellhousing area as it’s dripping on the crossover pipe. It’s a small leak. Leaves a spot on the floor after a couple days. I rolled my spare engine out and the only thing I can see that could cause a...

    2022 Rally

@hesutton Joe @pafixitman and I have had a quick look around. Availability is nil. Prices are high. If you don’t mind me asking, what were you considering too expensive? Seems like the KOA’s around here are $70-80 a night. Most of the others I’ve looked at are in that same range for full...

    Project Big Red

So yes, people have done that. I’ve tried it. I finally came to the conclusion that there’s not enough air going through the stack to heat the spring and get it to engage. I’ve done IDI clutch with big fan and it doesn’t come on until way too late. It’s all about the air flow as a wise man told...

    Project Big Red

@homelessduck Soooo... How much ?? PayPal ready :) I’ve considered having them made once I have enough test mileage to feel good about it. If there is interest, I would consider it. Unfortunately, the prototype places that do small runs have gotten really pricey of late. From the use I first...

    Project Big Red

It’s been a while… again… LOL I’ve been suspecting my batteries were going south on me for a while. I noticed that the volt gage wasn’t recovering at all after the glow plugs then it was really struggling to turn over. I tried charging them. Nada. So out they come. Who was the ******* that...

    How hot is too hot?

Just to catch this thread up, I did fit the 6.4 fan and fan clutch with adapter bushing. I have one trip on it and that combination seems to work pretty well. I haven’t put it to the max stress yet (I-68 with the AC on) but on the trip to Michigan last fall, kicking the fan on kept it cool...

    Project Big Red

Yes there is a shroud. If you go back a few posts, you’ll see it. I just left the top off to watch and make sure it’s running true. As for the bushing, I drew it up and had it machined so now I have a CAD model.

    Project Big Red

It runs good and true. As far as I know, this is the first 6.4 PSD fan on an IDI with 6.4 PSD fan clutch. The clutch has been done with a stock fan. I believe that was @ifrythings if not I apologize. I went with a basic on/off control just to try it out. When it comes on it sounds like a...

    Project Big Red

Wow. Haven’t updated this thread since May. Time really flies. After spending a lot of time scratching my head over the cooling problem, I decided to try a couple things. First thing was to bypass part of the water flow around the thermostat. I pulled the heater hose line that goes into the...

    A Post I Don't Want To Make

I know I’m late to the party, but had it rained since you last parked it? Water in #7 and #8 can happen with a questionable cowl seal. Migh have got just enough to bend it but not hydrolock it. Sorry to hear you’re having issues. These trucks will make us do stupid things.
