My brother has a 1986 Ford f250 with a 6.9l idi IH motor in it. the previous owner installed a banks turbo, some gauges and a shift kit in the auto trans.
my brother dislikes driving and owning it, but I won't let him get rid of it, so it just sits.
well i have been out of the country as...
Hahahaha 8ball I have been there! Great post! I just love when you sling a still-full transfer tube and make a royal mess with it.. It's my favorite part of collections!
I am working with a tote. They are great; they are all over Craigslist (although some people think they are worth gold, but they are there) and the valve on the bottom is fine. Best part is, you can settle out your water to the bottom, and then hit that valve and let it all out. The bottom of...
Yeah I advanced my timing considerably. Sometimes I have to push my cold start handle in to get it started, cause the timing is too advanced and stops the starter from turning when it hits
That is a great Idea. If the truck is already crabby in the cold, veggie oil is not a good Idea, because it appears you compression is already low, and you won't burn the veggie completely, and this will cause all sorts of problems. Veggie oil in the crankcase is not good.
excellent post!
I have been running a 100% mix of WMO/ATF (mostly WMO) on a little VW diesel with interesting results. The cold certainly slows me down; a warm day allows for a 10MPH higher top speed (around 80 downhill.) Judging by the grey smoke on startup, i would imagine viscosity/flow...
Wow we condemn IP's quick around here! If it started to begin with, then the starter and charging system are fine. There's a 90% chance you've got an air leak somewhere, likely around the injectors. Cheapest fix first: go to Napa and get the $50 return line kit, and replace all yer return lines...
Plus elsewhere guys are saying that the thicker oil is causing the timing to retard (where us without a lift pump are creating alot of vacuum tryin to pull thick fuel)
They also have commented retarded timing causes it to run slightly hotter.
I'm going to install a carburetor style lift pump...
I have my drain about 12 gallons up the side of my 55 gallon drum, so I can have up to 12 gallons of water.
I forgot to add a hole @ the bottom of the drum.. Thinkin about drilling a tiny hole into a full 55 gallon drum.. Idiot!
Hey guys it turns out my first supply of wmo was not so great. Lots of goat vomit in the bottom of the containers. And some rain water. I am slowly filtering thru a jeans leg which is helping to remove the goat vomit, and of course I'll be running that thru a 1 micron bag filter later.
But...
Chesterfield County.. Dude I'll have to come by and check yer filter situation out!
To filter, I'm running a "preliminary " cut off and sewn up jeans leg into a 55 gallon drum, then thru a 1 micron bag filter. Turns out the jeans leg is takin forever! Must be a 5 micron pair of jeans...
Can you mix atf in yer wmo? I plan on addin my wmo in straight @ approximately 20% with diesel.. So my vdub has a 10 gallon tank, and i only run it down to 4 gallons, then I'll fill 2 gallons wmo and 4 straight diesel from the pump.
So Is it OK to mix about 5 gallons of atf in with my 45...
first post!
how do you avoid this "sludge" ?
i'm about to jump in on WMO for an 1985 jetta idi (just got my barrels today) and i wanna avoid this sludge.
