Yet another 7.3 cold start issue

Getting fed up with this truck. After a week of driving it every day, and having no issues, it wouldn't start this morning. Had it plugged in over night, and it fired right up this morning...then quit. The only thing I can surmise is happening is that the filter is holding enough fuel to...

Yet another 7.3 cold start issue

Yesterday, it was another cold, windy day. When I left for work, I plugged the truck in for my wife. About 3 hours later, she tried to start it, and it stalled shortly after starting. A classic air intrusion symptom. She started it a second time, same result. Then lots of hard cranking, blah...

Yet another 7.3 cold start issue

All the recharge talk aside, I went out this morning, and the truck fired right up after 1 cycle of the glow plugs. For reference it was ~20*F, with a 20mph wind straight into the grill over night (~12 hours). Wind chill was about 3*F. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that replacing...

Yet another 7.3 cold start issue

What's the ampacity of our alternators? Even the small ones are ~95 amps. The reserve capacity is 140 or 150, per walmarts website... http://answers.walmart.com/answers/1336/product/16782705/questions.htm?sort=recenta And even at 80 amps should only take 2 hours to charge. (roughly) Or...

Yet another 7.3 cold start issue

Well, after a long day, it's running again. I don't know if the 60* temps were a factor, but it fired up after a few things. Tested the glow plugs and the harness through the 'Z' bar. Each plug was under 1 ohm. (.3-.8). Then tested the harness and from each bullet connector through the Z bar...

Yet another 7.3 cold start issue

When I swapped in the engine, I had to run all new fuel lines - so I have hard lines to the mechanical pump on the block (with a piece of rubber line there), hard line to the filter head, which is running a wix 33417 filter - a one-piece filter setup. For the return, I have a hard line...

Yet another 7.3 cold start issue

94 7.3 NA. Swapped into a 95 CC Body with a ZF-5 behind it. 256XXX Miles on the engine, though it was regasketed (no rings or bearings though) about 60K ago. For reference, in the last month I have replaced glow plugs (Beru/Motocraft ZD-9), return line kit (Thanks Mel!), steering box (Redhead...

Hang onto your old heater cores!

Do you have any info on this cathode pill? I have a Rodney Red radiator, and don't want to have any issues with it. LOL I'm super impressed with the radiator, just don't want to buy another one.

    Billet return caps

How much would a set of these run? I know you aren't selling them yet, but I sure hope you do. ;Really Not having to change my lines on a yearly basis would be pretty cool. As someone mentioned in your other thread - I wonder how hard it would be to do a return line manifold that's 4 caps...

    0-60mph Times

My trucks 0-60 time is measured in weeks, if not months :rotflmao That's ok though - it's paid for, reliable, and gets great mileage. ;Really

    Mitsubishi turbo center section?

I was afraid of that. The shop rebuilding the turbo for me (I'm TDY right now) said a new center section would run 6-900$ I'd like to think I could find one cheaper than that, and bolt the thing together myself, when I get back to Vegas. I was hoping there was either someone on the...

70mm turbo and propane on 6.9

Brake On/Off switch. Ideally though, if you don't want the propane to come on at less that say...50% throttle, it would be fairly easy to tap the voltage on the TPS (if you have one). If you don't, then a physical switch would be required... Something that mounts to the IP body would work the...

    Mitsubishi turbo center section?

Where would I find one of these? I'd like to replace the center section in my Banks turbo. It's a Mitsubishi turbo, (don't have the model number handy). Where should I shop for this piece?

    Rodney Red Review!

Got my RR radiator on Thursday AM. Started the swap that afternoon, and finished up last night. I had to do a LOT of fab work, due to the gasser core support/radiator I was using. It's solid now though :sly I took it for a test drive up my 'test freeway', which is a ~ 8 mile section of...

what kinda MPG's is your IDI getting an tips on some other stuff???
