If you found a broken wire, why not just repair the wire and see if it works? I would not see the need to change anything else if the broken wire is the problem.
I would start with a volt meter, confirm you are not getting voltage to the glow plugs. From there work backwards till you get power, that will identify what is broken/not passing voltage.
Make sure your return lines are clear, my tank selector valve stopped working right and blocked the return part way, which restricted the flow, in turn made it seem like the cold advance was on extra heavy.
2 alternators is easy to wire if you have the right alternators. I would go for two over one big one for the higher output at idle. To do two alternators easily you need two that are externaly regulated just wire the voltage "sense" wire is at the same spot for both regulators, this includes...
Sounds more like a crossed wire. I suspect where you have "ground" to is hot with ign. on. Or something in the steering column is not grounding correctly to provide the proper path to ground with your ign. on.
Thanks guys, I will pass on the messages. I am still trying to get more info from him, but I think he is enjoying the show more then thinking about tranny's (with or with-out gears)
Something about going down there to see the sights and got a new camera... I didn't follow myself but I am...
Please don't hurt me for asking this here, I just feel funny when I am out of the basement :dunno
Buddy of mine is on a road trip in his new to him 1995 F550 chassis motor home with the gas 460 (I think) anyway, his tranny is acting up. He hopes to make it into Reno on Monday (he is at...
If you have any U-joints that are greasable, now would be a good time. Check or change the fluid in the diffs. As long as the hubs were greased good they should not be a problem. You only really have to worry once the water gets in the cab :)
Ditto on the noise with the SMF. I laugh when I pull up to a light, let the clutch out in neutral and watch the cars around me roll up the windows. I should try a little heavier weight oil too and see how it does. Mine is mostly a hauling/firewood truck so I don't mind, but I found a old...
I dunno what the weight ended up being... but I had a decent load of oak in my truck a while back. Seems to pull just that little extra harder when it has a good load.
Zigg, for the future the Clipper down town, and Sea Wings at the airport, both have offices in Port Angles/Seattle. You get the package shipped there (so many places do free shipping in the US) and with some "care of" instructions it ends up getting over here. You pick it up and walk through...
Have you checked your tank switcher valve? If it is clogged/not switching the return lines correctly it would build up preasure in the return and change the timing.
Thanks for the pics! The pyro/boost gauge looks just like what I saw on the dash. I didn't get any pics of the engine so at least I know what to look at as far as the turbo. I still think $600 for the whole truck as long as the motor runs is worth it :)
Has anyone ever heard of a CtS or CnN turbo for the 6.9's? I am looking at a truck that the guy says it has some CtS stickers, and possbile a CnN sticker on/around/with the turbo. I am going to look at it early next week in person (about a 1 1/2 hour drive from here)
The guy is asking $600...
Would putting more fuel preasure into the IP change the advancement of the pump? When the cold advance is on, I thought it restricted the fuel flow out of the IP in turn that advances it a bit. So putting in higher preasure fuel would advance it would it not? So if you do that, you might need...
Hey, someo of us don't even have to do the work of taking if out of the motor and putting it in the fuel tank! My motor sucks the used oil right out of the pan and puts it in the cylenders to burn all by its self! :rotflmao
Take a look here: http://members.shaw.ca/milton/weld/weldunater.htm at the prep work that was done to the alt. This was done by a friend of mine a few years ago who works in an auto/marine electronics. The thing to remember is that the regulator only limits the voltage. If you open the field...
:dunno I got my last car for $700... guy had it listed for $1700, it just depends on if they want to get rid of it or not.
Looks like a not bad truck depending on how it runs. If you can point out enough stuff that you would have to do on it, and still want to buy it, you never know what...
