    Thank you all for the replies and advice. I'm looking for something to daily drive 3-4 days per week, 50 miles per day. And I want to be able to tow my car to the track (less than 5000 lb car and trailer) with it. And, of course, use it for the odd errand to pick up mulch or lumber, etc.

    We're talking about the injection pump being out of time here, right? Injection pump timing doesn't affect compression. So, I guess you're saying that my valve timing might be off... that sounds like a really big can of worms for me. I think I'll leave that alone so the next guy doesn't have...

    Here's a video of my truck cranking. VIDEO Also got the fuel pressure gauge in there. Hard to read, but looks like it may have peaked around 3 or 4 psi.

    I bought a fuel pressure gauge and put it on the fuel filter schrader valve. It showed basically nothing... no pressure. I figured the valve was messed up. Guess I should have replaced the schrader valve and verified that. When I crack the injectors and crank, fuel squirts out. I figured...

    Newb Questions

    Yup, my goal is just to see if it will light off. I was worried about the cylinders getting scuffed up, but if you think that won't be an issue for just running for a minute, then I'll leave the oil as is. I didn't think coolant would be a problem, but just thought I'd ask to be safe.
