I have the facets pump with the clear filter like others. For years I've been running it including running the tank dry on a few occations. Was surprised the filter bowl remained clear.
Finally decided to change my fuel filter and opened this up at the same time. It had a lot of sediment...
What you're talking about is a Road Draft Tube(RDT). hmm, I'm not exactly sold on that solution. A lot of setups have it pumping gases under the vehicle and I'm guessing a lot of IDIs are like mine which means there's a ton of smoke pumping out of the RDT. Which in turn evacuates in to my...
I actually don't have env concerns with this setup. I think I remember a post or two by you that listed putting a inlet in to the downpipe of the exhaust system to evacuate the crank gases directly out the tailpipe. Not a horrible solution. I'd prefer something else but honestly as long as I...
Hey crew!
So, as my sig states. I have an old style non-WG banks turbo. It works great BUT the local shop here(very experienced in IDIs) recommended I get a valve cover from a '93-94 IDI Turbo because it integrated the CDR. Hence reduction of oil through the compressor on the turbo...
Just wanted to update everyone with my experience. Working with genlightning was a breeze! Shipping was quick and smooth(back in april)
When I installed the pump it replaced the factory manual pump. Before replacement I was having some rough/slow start issues. Install occurred in april and...
A while ago it basically came down to Autozone, Kragen, Napa, or the dealer. Autozone and Kragen were within emergency distance and I found that Autozone had much higher quality and successful parts than Kragen every day. But recently I've been running in to problems with them. And on the...
So was crawling under my truck a while back and noticed the rubber support that holds my carrier bearing was basically rotted out. floppity, floppity. No prob, got a replacement from Autzone.
I finally got around to installing it this evening and find out that the bearing is too small...
This is how my crazy brain works. Saw a '97 front bumper(intercooler holes) on CL for sale at a halfway decent price so decided to call the guy up(because I want to install my intercooler). While on the phone with him, he tells me he put superduty springs on his truck and the ride is WAY...
Diesel_Brad - curious about details on the RSK + SD springs. What does it take? I PM'd you as well.
I know the RSK will net ~3.5" or 5.5" of lift depending on kit and will soften the ride a little. but the SD springs are supposed to make the IDI run smoother than a SD.

I've been wracking my brains trying to come up with an idea for my setup.
I have a old banks turbo with the CDR plumbed in to the big old banks air box. so oil is running through the turbo. not a big deal per banks manual.
BUT, I want to install an intercooler. Which means over time the...
let me know how this goes. do you have to relocate the trackbar?
my springs are beating me up. I saw a superlift 4" kit pretty cheap but curious if the ride with RSK/SD springs will be better.
I also went with 3/8". perfect fit to the existing hard-line feed from the tanks.
And there was one more thing I noticed while removing the existing fitting that attached to the filter(the 1/4 NPT fitting). the hardline fitting that goes on to the 90 NPT contains some form of a rubber...
no pictures but here's what I just did this weekend:
went to Napa and picked up the following items:
1. qty 2 = 1/8 male NPT to 3/8 hose adapter - 90 degree fitting
2. qty 1 = 1/4 mail NPT to 3/8 hose adapter - 90 degree fitting
3. 2 ft(or maybe 3, can't remember) of some 3/8 HD USA fuel line...
yeah, I'm pretty sure these pumps are built to pull diesel up to 20ft(since they sit on Refers)?
nice, simple and clean job on the bypass Heath. I was curious what the ID was on the hard line to make sure I wasn't causing any restrictions to flow.
I'll send you a copy of the installation instructions(just have to find them).
do a search for posts created by me and you'll find one on my pre-sidewinder banks install. Or perhaps it was a turbo build, or both, can't remember. The Y, up, and down pipes are pretty expensive to replace so...
Note: if they're torched on a straight section of the pipes, it's not too difficult to get a coupler to connect them. When I got my banks kit from a guy for$ 300 he had done all kinds of nasty sawzall/cut weld damage to the pipes to fit around his trans. Made the up/Y pipes garbage for my...
and here's a banks unit in Sac. okay, not as cheap but looks like it still might be a great deal if it comes with everything. although looks like up-pipe was cut. note: y-pipes and up-pipes are $$$ from banks(if they have stock). but if it can be welded up, should be a good setup...
Sparkandfire thanks a lot for the offer. I just picked up a 4g battery cable and a couple of connectors for$ 10. Not the cheapest but wont kill the bank. Otherwise I'd definitely take you up on that offer.
Silverburner the light still comes on as expected. Looks like only the side of the...
I'm looking at doing something similar. take this with a grain of salt.
Well, here's the alldata diagram for wiring. Looks like a Red wire with Light Green strip is the ticket. one goes in to the glowplug relay as well as other locations(starter relay? alternator?)
Okay, got back under the hood the other day to look for the harness you were talking about. Well... The harness plug is melted where the two wires go in. The wires look burned and partially melted at the harness and @ the controller. Touching the wires after turning on the glowplug...
Let me know what all you have left. I have the banks kit so would have to change the intake to the intercooler but might be able to make it work.
Russ, have you had your intake hat on with the banks kits where the compressor output's facing from behind the hat? guessing I could just rotate...
