Thought It Was Belt Drive, but YIKES!
Hello, All. A couple weeks ago, started hearing a metallic sound or slippy belt. Became more metallic. Just now, removed flywheel cover (E4OD) and checked convertor bolts. All good. Then removed fan and clutch, then one belt at a time. No change, in fact it's getting louder! Mighty scared...- idi_econoline

Yeh, pivot nut on back of PS pump was loose. Back on, tighten the nut, done! Yeh, engine out three times during the last 10 years.- idi_econoline

Stock Brake Pedal behavior
Yeh, mine's been a bit odd since day one. I, too, have the hissing booster (replacement on garage shelf), and some pedal travel while hissing. Also on shelf are new m/c and rebuilt ABS valve, but will do booster first, with that hiss. Mine also has worked fine, when I really needed them. But...- idi_econoline

Well, dang. I lumped the Motorcrafts in with the Autolites. This old guy remembers when Autolite was a Ford brand, also, but they're now crap from Fram. Anyway, well, duh. The Motorcrafts are everywhere, so I'm all set. Thanks to all.- idi_econoline

1992 Fuel Heater O ring
Mine leaked for a while; since mine is on a van, it drenched the valley pan with fuel. Figured it out recently, after parking her for months. Only when I test drove with air cleaner (and doghouse cover!!!) off. Yep, fuel ran down the back of the bracket and into the valley pan. Crazy voodoo...- idi_econoline

How did you get into an IDI?
Put a zillion miles on my boss's 1986-1990 E-350 IDI cutaway box trucks early in this millennium. Too much fun, but later enjoyed his 2003 PSD panel vans. So, when a '92 E350 7.3 IDI panel came up for sale locally, had to have it. Nine years, three engine pulls, two head rebuilds, pricey E4OD...- idi_econoline

Yikes, three months? ANYWAY --- My best guess was the advance plunger seal, at the bottom of the DB-2. Since I have a Baby Moose, Suzi checked with Mel, and sent a kit to replace that plunger nut and seal. Nope, still leaking, somewhere. Today, I wrapped a few key places with blue paper towel...- idi_econoline

Had a return leak on RH bank, replaced that cap and o-rings. Return plumbing replaced at same time as IP, 3 or 4 years. Not coming from up there. Might as well tighten all the outgoing fittings at rear of IP. worth a try. They are accessible once air cleaner is removed, but much less so than in...- idi_econoline

Welp, had one spare Bosch left. Berus will arrive next week, but I wondered if installing this last one might cure the short cycle. Did Macrobb's test, and they all gave pretty wimpy sparks. Re-did the resistance test; highest was 10.something ohms, lowest was 3.90. Put the spare into the 3.90...- idi_econoline

Hmmmm, just used volt meter to test continuity. 3-5 ohms good; open = bad. Yeh, can see that applying real voltage with a stout wire would be way better.;Sweet Real operating simulation. Derp.- idi_econoline

GENTLEMEN! Long time no type at... or no visit this site. My bad. Just been driving the van, with issues slowly mounting. OK, suddenly GP cycle goes short. Been here, fixed this before. Checked unplugged continuity of all plugs; two tested bad. Replaced. (Bosch, BTW). Still short cycle...- idi_econoline

E4OD Shenanigans
Bump. Did some online research; some guys had this unlocking behavior with a bad FIPL/TPS. Bad spots on the potentiometer tell the computer to unlock,as if accelerator were pressed to kickdown. Out came the old one (genuine Ford, installed by trans shop about 10K ago!). New (aftermarket) one...- idi_econoline
