    Reconsidering my RV setup

Thanks for the Intel. That sounds, and looks, like a good one. I've been wanting to be closer to the river during winter for kayaking. Thought Ehrenburg might be an option but, you know, stay limit. People are not something that we need but my lady is a weekend vender so we're always torn...

    Reconsidering my RV setup

What LTVAs are you using, ones near Quartzsite? If so do you have a preference, good ones, bad ones?

    Alternator ID

It does match up to the L-N alt even though the numbers I found on it don't exactly match. After starting this morning I added more load to it (headlights) and it activated. It read, 13.3 at idle w/ headlights on 13.6 w/ headlights off 13.7 after picking up the rpms but read at idle w/...

    Alternator ID

In my manual it says that there are these 4 types, 1. Rear terminal, external fan w/ external regulator 2. Side terminal, external fan, w/ internal regulator 3. Leece-Neville 165 amp 4. Internal fan alt w/ integral rear mounted regulator Is it possible to tell which one the ambo version is...

    Alternator ID

After getting the rig starting and running pretty nice today after starting I wasn't getting any output from the alt (measured at the battery terminals). Testing goes in several different directions based on the type, so what is this one? I believe it's a high output one that's also used in the...

Guess that really explains the difference in mpgs.

E40D. Would that make a big difference?

    Vacuum components

No C6 here, just the infamous E40D. That is very possible. It did have a rear heater box that we pulled out and I can almost guarantee that it had cutoff valve inline. The control for it would have been in the overhead, so definitely not a mechanical one. Anyway it's gone now. Less is more...

Blue Smoke at cold idle, White smoke after descent/climb (air intrusion)

Thanks for the details. When I changed to the electric lift pump (mech one started leaking and everyone was saying that good new ones were rare) I cut into the steel line on the DS frame rail and tied in there. Then I did the block off of the mech pump mount and added a short connecting hose...

Ok, substantial bigger and flat towing. Maybe if you left that tree root yard art behind it would help.

    Reconsidering my RV setup

I know this is a long thread and I haven't read the whole thing, but why are you only getting 8.7? I've been averaging about 13 and I just found an point of air intrusion that I stopped. At this point it's running better than it has in a few years and I'm hoping that the mpgs climb a little...

fuel flow drawing wanted, can't see how return gets in tank?

That's what I want to do to mine. The filter being in the limited van style engine compartment really interferes w/ the ease of doing some other things in there. Have you had any issues w/ it not being at the highest point of the system? I already run an electric lift pump so figured that I'd...

    Which version of OD off?

With that being the case I would say that there is an AOD instrument cluster in here. I know that it has an E40D since we had it rebuilt, and I also know that the instrument cluster has been replaced twice. So putting it in D would be like putting it in second gear. Not what I want to do in...

    Which version of OD off?

I've done that but prefer to have the better response in city traffic. It's not like this beast is light. I know how to turn it off, was just wondering if one method was better than the other.

    Which version of OD off?

So I have one of the infamous E40Ds and sometimes I want to drive around w/ the OD off. Like if I'm just driving around in some town and the speed limit is never more than 45 or 50 max. Which would be better, just just turning it off on the shift lever, or downshifting to the "D" w/ no "O" on...

    Vacuum components

@Nero, that's correct, like @Rdnck84_03 said it would have just had a single spade connector going to it. I did find one loose wire in the area that seems to have had the end chewed off. I'll test that for voltage later when it's not 110° in the sun.

    Vacuum components

That's totally possible being that this was city metro bus at one time. There were a variety of "aftermarket" things installed that I've been removing piece by piece.

    Vacuum components

Been fixing/plugging some vacuum leaks, mostly where a rat chewed up the heater & AC controls, and I have this attached to the vac manifold. It doesn't show on the diagrams I have, does anyone know what it is, or at least "was"?

92-93 E350 down in the SoCal desert

Seems that I have the air leak fixed and a "better" fuse has stopped the dim overdrive light. The fuse that was in there had some damage and corrosion but seemed to be intact. I replaced it and after finding/fixing the fuel line air intrusion it's been starting and idling smooth. We're finally...

92-93 E350 down in the SoCal desert

Thanks! Have a new relay on order from the closest napa. Also a fuel line separator, they don't know what o-rings I need unless I bring one in.

92-93 E350 down in the SoCal desert

Was trying to not use this sub forum when I thought the only issue was that I might be sucking air before the electric lift pump (something I added a couple years ago), but now I see that it's also in limp mode (pale OD light). What I've done, Fuel issue - pulled the pump intake hose and ran...

Interesting, I've always had them on my gas engines and liked them. Thanks for the update on yours.

    Fuel issues?

Plan on getting both an inline glass tube filter pre-pump and some of that Hotshot once we get near civilization. The mech pump was removed and the hole plated. As far as the filter head leaking around the heater, I know removing them is fine but then they need to be tapped to plug. My...

    Fuel issues?

That's a good idea. Wouldn't mind having one mounted permanent.
