    Smokin wires

I'll try to get some pics of my truck tomorrow and post them. If you know how to use a 12 volt test light or a multimeter it is not hard to test the glow plug controller or relay. Check in the Tech Article section for more useful info.

    Smokin wires

Sorry I spoke before I thought. The glow plug wires connect to the B+ hot side of the starter relay so they are hot all the time even when key is off. The other end of the glow plug wires are connected to the glow plug relay and normally nothing happens until you start the truck and the glow...

    Smokin wires

Yes, those wires are hot when key is on. You sound as if they are shorting out with other wires in the connector.

I apologize for my C.R.S. ( Can't Remember Stuff ) syndrome causing me to forget when the trucks went stock with the 3G serpentine setup.:sorry:

    Flickering Battery Light

The 7756-3N-2G fits fine on my 1990. Of course I had to change the wiring for it. Here's a wire diagram to help.

    Flickering Battery Light

7756-3N-2G is the part number for a 3G alternator that fits our trucks with a v-belt. In case anyone is interested in upgrading.:Thumbs Up

    Voltage read on dash?

Proper charging can be affected by: 1) Alternator belt tension. Is it slipping? 2) Health of the batteries. Are both taking and holding a charge properly? 3) Are the battery cables and connections in good condition. Check them with a ohm meter for high resistance. You can use the second table...

Super Fridgid Temps = Ign Key Tough to Turn!

Would a dry silicone spray work? The kind that goes on wet but then dries to leave a dry silicone film.

    Bricknose electrical issues

Just a wild guess, but have you checked the main wire harness plug on the passenger side inner wheel well for corrosion, or being melted down by the glow plug wires over heating? My main wire harness plug recently cracked apart from the heat of the glow plug wires.

    Engine oil for 7.3 idi?

When I lived in Vacaville, California which is near Sacramento where it got below freezing only a few days a year I used either Walmart 15w-40w or Delo 15w-40w. Here in Winthrop, Minnesota I use Delo 5w-40w synthetic to make the starting easier when it is below zero like it has been for the past...

    Another GP wiring question

You are correct. I was thinking of when you connect a momentary push button switch to the white terminal to make it a combination controller/manual setup.

    7.3L IDI Battery Load Test

Compressionignitionrules: When I lived in Mojave, California, the coldest I remember seeing was about 15*F for about a week. I remember that week because my heater core in my 67 Chevy II station wagon split it's seems and I had to drive about 35 miles each way to work with no heat all week until...

Which Is Better? NO.2 With Treatment Or Winter Blend Diesel?

I live in Winthrop, Minnesota and we will be getting below zero Fahrenheit soon. I used to use a mix of winter blend diesel from the local station and I always added white Power Service to it. Lately I have been using just No. 2 diesel and Howes diesel treatment and anti-gel. So the question is...

    Starter diagnosis/solutions

I replaced the brushes in my M3T90072 Mitsubishi brand gear reduction starter a couple of months ago. I bought them from a local auto starter and alternator re-builder for $14. I didn't have a soldering iron big enough to solder the new brushes in, so I made some crimp connectors out of some...

A 7756-3N-2G 130 amp alternator is supposed to work. I will find out Wednesday when I install the new one I just bought to replace my old 100 amp 1G alternator and external regulator. This model comes with the dual v-belt pulley which is what I needed for my 1990. James

    Fuel gauge reads

Just a suggestion, if you can buy some Dorman steel fuel line repair kits (They come single or double kits) from your local auto parts store you can cut them down and use them to adapt your stock fuel line quick connects to the rubber fuel hose and the new selector valve hose barbs. You can...
